vibration?

vibration?

well,i had my 01 on the highway today for the first time since i have had it,and at a steady 100mph there is a vibration. it is definently not the tires it feels like the engine. i have the usual mods nothing extreme. is this thing going to blow up?

Place the gear selector in Neutral, watch the tach, and hold revs to around 3500 RPM. If you can duplicate the vibration, look into the exhaust system as the potential problem. I had the vibration bad enough to shake the seats while sitting stationary, in fact, initially thought the torque convertor had alot of runout.

Do a search for vibration on here as some have already posted possible solutions.

This brings back memories of some old threads/posts .....

If I remember correctly, you should first try loosening all exhaust clamps, tap the joints/clamps with a mallet, run the eng. at idle for a few minutes, and then tighten up all the clamps.

Another 'fix' was adding a Ford counterweight/dampner--somewhere?

(Self appointed vibration king. Could only find them, not fix 'em )
