I finally broke it...

This is what I posted over on the HALO site on Saturday...

"...we all new that this would eventually (SP) happen (kicked a rod out), we have been trying to go where no one has gone before. (hmm heard that somewhere)

So... for those that want to know, it was set up with the 2 stage system, the first stage had a 50hp shot right off the line, the second (progressive) stage had a 200 shot, initial was @ 80hp that was delayed for 1.5 seconds, and a build time to 100% at 6 seconds. The tune up was a very SAFE nitrous/fuel ratio. The combined HP for both systems was 264hp. We DID NOT purge the system because I wanted it to be a little "soft" on the checkout pass.

We made a checkout pass first and it was smooth & clean, ran a 7.43 @ 97.59mph ( which meant we were making good power), the 60ft was a mear 1.86. So, looking for a way to pickup the 60ft, I decided I would purge the system and that should pick up the 60ft....

Track conditions were marginal at best (read sucked once you launched), when I hit the gas the truck planted me in the seat and leaped off the ground!!!!! (some bystanders say all 4 wheels ) so...I dont know if the hook & leap (sounds like an olypmic event) let it get into the rev limiter, or if it was just the shock of the good hook, just time for the rod to go, or a solenoid hung. We never did go get the slip, but I bet it was a bad a$$ 60ft time

I will figure out the cause, of the failure and the order in which it happed and let ya'll know...

Monday I will resaerch the options on how we are gonna fix this thing, but it WILL get fixed.

So, its off to cut the grass, and get the nitrous on the Cobra "

For those of you that have not been keeping up with our set up, we have been running this type of combination for the last 6 months. With it we have been running some really good times & mph.

After looking at it and checking out everything (motors not out yet), and talking with folks that saw it. Here is what we think happend.

Hit the gas first stage kicked in, truck JUMPED off the ground, while it was in the air ( all 4 wheels off the ground) the second stage came in, then bang. This does make sense based on the timming of all the info that we have. So, with that I think it just had to be a massive over rev condition that caused it to let go.

264 Hp! Wow! You're definitely a pioneer. And I was concerned about running a 100 shot with my built motor.

Avdawg, you should post some pictures of what your setup looked like for some of the new guys who have never seen it. Very impressive to say the least. Sorry that you had problems. Only means you will come back stronger. Peace

Nope Rhino, dont mind a bit that you put them up.

Yes it was the same system, with the exception that I added a Dedenbaer (SP) multiple relay control & completely rewired the system. the install looks 100% beter now then it did in the pics.

well, we can look at it like this...

with a minor chaange ( different solinoids & nozzles which I have) in the first stage it is possible to get @ 200hp out of that & the NOSzle system ( second stage) is good for @ 300hp. Also there is a new progressive controller that will make bothstages progressive

So the combined HP could be over the 500hp mark
