Question Tuner Wars

I've enjoyed owning, modding, and racing my 2000 L for a couple of years now, and I can't understand why someone would start a website called "Tuner Wars". We all have our own tuners that we are loyal to, and the competition between these tuners is a good thing because we all benifit through constant advances in their research and development. I personally have Jim @ JDM tune my truck and he along with his very talented technicians have given me all I could ever ask for from a "tuner"and his company. I always try and have a "positive outlook" towards my go fast hobby and I think that the whole "Tuner Wars" thing is not a good thing, let's do something to better our Sport, not drag it down, keep on Truckin', John H.

Thumbs up

John,
Well said, I also use Jim as my tuner and am a part of Team JDM and proud of it. One of the things I like best is they are also good friends, and that means a lot.
I am sure it is the same way at Team PSP and Team Diablo.
We are very fortunate to have the skillful tuners that we have and part of the fun is to try to be at the top. There is nothing wrong with friendly rivalry, but sometimes it does get taken a bit to far. I do not partake in tuner bashing no matter what Team is in the crosshairs. I have some really good friends and a few of them happen to be on other Teams, I still wish them the best and am very happy for them when they get a new personal best. There will always be tension between the tuners as they are trying to stand out at the top by themselves. The two quickest gen 2 Lightning are very close, and even though Sal is quicker than Jim rate now I still congratulated him. Why? Because he deserves it, it takes a lot of time and money to make these trucks go like they are now, and for all that hard work anyone that is at the top deserves praise. Would I rather it be someone from Team JDM? Hell yes, but that is the part I like, Friendly Rivalry at its best..
Bill

MY $.02 - A NON LIGHTNING OWNER THAT OPERATES A WEBSITE SUPPORTED FINANCIALLY BY ALL OF THE MAJOR LIGHTNING TUNERS.

I think that something like tunerwars.com is a good idea, but the genesis of it will lead to a completely opposite effect of what it is supposed to accomplish. By virtue of the fact that it was started by someone that that has already acknowledged a dislike for a specific vendor will only serve to blur its mission.

Unfortunately, where this seems to have come from is that people feel we censor the vocal complainers that state "the (insert product here) that I bought from (insert vendor here) blew up my (insert mechanical part here)" without first contacting a vendor or providing facts (in many, but not all cases).

The negative comments will FAR outweigh the positive comments on a site of that nature. And because of the level of hatred and bias (and loyalty) of some vendors will only ensure that people take advantage of their perceived anonymity on the Internet and immaturity to fabricate stories.

Sad, but true. Which is exactly why I recommended getting a good lawyer sooner rather than later. With that said, the model and content can work, I point to epinions.com as a model that does work fairly well. But the reality is, for it to provide good, accurate and reliable information, it will have to be monitored to ensure all posts are 100% truthful.

What I hope to build on F150online over the next few weeks is a product rating system (like on Sounddomain's store) that will require users to register before critiquing a product, as well as weight a user's rating based on their seniority. Will this provide 100% accurate information? Probably not, but it might help potential customers.

My question is will it ever get the # of eyeballs it needs to succeed and How can you tell whats "true".

If I could tell whats "true" my job here would be much easier and the amount of BS here would be 10% of what it is....

A lightning only site is a small enough niche, a lightning only tunerwars site seems and impossibly small demographic to hit...

The fact that it may have been developed by someone with an axe to grind gives it less credibility.. But who knows....

Doug

PS - I ran a personal best 60 foot today.... 1.75 Woohooo... What site do use to brag about the stellar performance of my truck at a revamped 1/8 mile track... Oh yeah this one..... LOL....

Great 60ft doug, I am jealous!

I do think the webmaster is pretty much right on, and will probably end that site. Because a site was picked from an unhappy customer/customers doesn't necessarily dictate how people should treat it. Because unhappy customers and happy customers can be derived from any tuner, its an open arena, only in its dealings with posts can you decided if its biased or not.

Obviously people should take the first steps for a resolution with the tuner, before posting anywhere, only after these attempts are made should they even think about taking it to the internet. With that said, sometimes its the only way to get the attention of some dealers. If they make a mistake they should provide a fair(to both them and the customer) resolution. Remembering fair to THEM and teh CONSUMER. Just because someone makes a mistake doesn't mean they should give you all free parts, discounted parts ect, an apology can prove to be enough in 99% of the cases.

Fast then you could prove to be a very good source of information related to your dealings with each of the tuners =)
