vibration feeling when coming to stop?
i have a wierd vibration feeling and sound when comin to a
stop, not when first touching the brakes ,its just as i come to a full stop.i took the wheels off and the pads have meat left and im not even close to the warning parts on the pads.i also checked my lower control bolt that was suggested to me but it was tight.
any ideas?

i have the same problem its a pulsing vibration i think it might be form inproper rotation or your wheels are't balanced correctly

Can be caused if you don't torque the lug nuts correctly. I learned this on one of my FWD cars. I got new tires on it one day and the guy put the nuts back on with a impact wrench. Too tight here, a little loose here...screwed up my rotors after a few hard stops.

I"m probably wrong since you said you don't get the vibration right away...only when you're about to stop.

On my old truck i went through several sets of pads and several rotors. Sometimes when they were just starting to warp it would only happen when coming to a complete stop. not at first or at high speeds like when they get bad. it was on a 97 f150 off road.
The shackles point the pinion down -2 degrees. If you rotate the 2 degree shim on the bottom of your spring it should take the vibration away. This has been more of a problem on the Harley trucks than on the Lightning because of the 2 piece driveshaft. You may also want to check your u-joints if you have been diving it this way with the shackle kit installed for a while.
I also have noticed a vibration when coming to a stop. Like was mentioned, mine only occurs when almost completely stopped, not when you first apply the brakes. Although I rotate my tires whenever they need it, I assumed the noise was coming from the tires as they are a little scalloped (sp?) around the inside and outside edges. I don't know exactly when I noticed the "roar", but it was definately AFTER I installed my shackles.
richo, where did you get this info on rotating the shim? If that fixes the problem, then I may try that. Also, I had no idea that installing shackles caused premature wear on U-joints.
Thanks all,
Sammy

Unless you're road racing the truck, it's highly unlikely that the rotor is warped. And when I say road racing, I don't mean driving fast thru the twisties, but rather sustained high speeds and heavy braking on a road course over an extended period.
The pulsation is most likely caused by bedding material deposited on the rotors in specific locations, instead evenly distributed over the face of the rotor surfaces.
To fix it, get Garnet paper (not any other kind of sand paper), dip it in soap and water, and lightly sand the rotor surface. Then, rebed the pads.

spike thats what i was thinking of doing
only with regular sandpaper, what is the
garnet paper and where do i get it?
also ive driven stuff with warped rotors and
it usually shakes the steering wheel pretty good
mine isnt doing that . you can also hear it
it sounds almost like a gear winding down.
and its definately coming from the front.

01Lightning---- I have a lot of experience with lifting trucks(as in 4wd) and lowering is no different. If you do a search in the harley forum on vibration with reference to shakles, you will find a quite a bit of detail on my experience with vibration. My truck had the same symtoms when slowing down. If you buy a cheap angle finder from Home Depot or Lowes($9.99) you can measure the pinion angle. On most ford trucks, Ford sets the pinion angle at 0 degree's and the driveshaft at + 3 to 4 degree's. When you install shackles, this points the pinion yoke towards the ground at - 2 degree's. Most times this is good for drag racing, but may shorten the life of u-joints and cause vibration on the street. Good luck.
PS...how do you like the muffler you have installed?
