Question Where to buy Bushings?

Anyone know where I can get a complete bushing kit for my 2k Lightning? Im getting new shocks installed and figured this was a good time to this as well. I have heard of Prothane but didnt have any luck scouring the web myself. Any ideas?

Jegs

Just call up Jegs or Summit. It's a special order item. It'll end up costing you a good bit:

$55 bushings
$200 replacement stock bushings
$100 press out the old ones
$200 install the new ones

Coldie, ouch!

Mine were $50 for the Prothane, about $150 for new factory bushings (don't need these if you are very careful and have plenty of time), $20 to press old out and new in. Also about 8 hours of my time.

If you can do it yourself, it's much cheaper. But remember, you have to have a full alignment afterwards as well.

The bushings weren't meant to be removed from their sleeves, so that's wherethe problem is. You have to burn/press out each one and it's a bitch of a time.

You can also save money by not buying a replacement set and reusing your old bushings, but the logistics are a real pain.

How much should I expect to pay for the install total if Im supplying a FULL kit to do all of them at once? Is this really worth it?

Hm...

If you supply your shop with the Prothane bushings and the stock bushings and say "Put them in and align it" I'd expect for you to pay around $500 (flat rate, no "friend" discount etc). For comparison sake, I'd say just the alignment is $150.

150? last time I had my front allignment done it was 40 bux. When you say the prothane + the stock ones what do you mean? I need 2 sets of bushings? What are the stock ones for? (sorry If Im dumb, dont know much about bushings really)

$40?

Hmm... I'd question a $40 alignment. The cheapest I've ever seen a set alignment (where you give them stats, not bang the wheels into a roughly straight pattern) is $90.

The extra set of stock bushings is to make everything a bit easier. If a shop is going to do it all, you don't really need them. Just expect to be without your truck for a day or two.

maybe they tossed me a deal on the alignment when the suspension was put on. I need to put on some cambers like on my last truck as well as the shocks. The bushings are losing their luster after what you have told me. The longest I can ever be without my truck is 1 day, as I dont have a backup or beater or anything. The place I had my suspension done is right across the street from my company so they may be able to knock it out in 1 full day. I guess I will see, thanks for the info Coldie, very cool of you

I just realized I've never said how much I like my bushings... they really firm up the front without hurting ride (very much)
