Intercooler recall?

Hey guys
I am looking to buy another 99 from a dealer and I don't know whether the intercooler has been replaced so I called the local Ford service dept. and asked them to look up the truck by the vin. # to see if it hd been replaced. They said they couldn't tell me if a specific trucks I.C. had been replaced but the could tell me about recalls. They said there was never a recall on the intercooler. I did recieve what I thought was a recall notice to have mine switched, which I did.
Was this a recall or is it called something else.

Also is there a way I can tell by looking at it if it has been replaced.
Also I think if it hasn't, that the time for Ford to do it for free ended in Sept. Right.
Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks
Chris

i have the same problem. i was told it was an owner notification not a recall. i just bought a 1999 L and also do not no if my intercooler was updated. they showed no records of any work being done threw ford. and the warranty is up on my truck. it only has 4000 miles on it. and i was told the intercoller will eventually start leaking if it is the original.

yes the recall already ended. The dealer shoudl be able to tell you if it has been done. Go check with another dealer and run the VIN this should be documentated by Ford.
I don't think there is a way to look if it has been replaced unless you take off the SC.
