Question Need HELP

i may be purchasing a 97 f150 flareside, looks just like an L, but has a v6 engine, which is better for insurance, but i want to know if the engine swap with that and a Lightning engine would be reasonably easy or even possible. Also does anyone know how much it is to change manual windows to power, the same with the locks. Thanks guys.

There is much more to a L than just the eng. Your trans. wouldn't last(if it could be fitted), rearend, etc. The wiring, intercooler, radiator, etc. would have to be changed too. I wouldn't do it.

I d/k about the window question.

I have a Ranger with a 302 in it because you can't buy a Ranger with a 302 in it. You can buy a F150 with a Lightning engine in it. You would spend way more swapping engines than just buying a Lightning and there's no way it would be as reliable. Just my thoughts after having engine swapped vehicles...

I would say still not worth it. The only way it might be a good idea is if the stock engine was blown and you picked the truck up for dirt cheap, sorry but its just not worth the money or trouble...

You should check with your insurance company, mine doesn't care if I have a lightning or a regular f150, its the same truck to them, same rate, same class everything.

Give em a call and just ask for quotes

TO change to auto locks, it'll cost ya 25 bucks for both if you do it yourself and can get the modules, very easy to do.

The windows will cost ya roughly 150 to do. You can take it to a good car alarm/stereo shop that has a custom installer and he can do it also, but expect to pay around 400 for locks and windows.

I used to do them for around 350 when I was installing them for a shop a long time ago in a different life. No hard, just time consuming running the wires and installing the goodies.

Ask for a quote at a stereo shop, tell them you'll buy a alarm there also, and to include that in the price, some alarms come with the modules, they will just have to add the hardware.
