Vandals strike!

Well Its been about a month now bu this whole ordeal is really making my lightning sad. About a month ago My lightning was keyed, BADLY. It happened in the wee hours of the morning because i came home to my apartments about 1 am (I have a stock truck so i wasn't making alot of noise) and when I got to my truck the next day(near noon) I found Key marks all over the hood, tailgate, down both sides, making X's and S marks, and they even wrote "FU%K Y#U" on the drivers side quarter panel. Now my roommate can defend me, I don't **** people off really. I don't go around gettin drunk and fightning people at the bars and most people that know me like me. so I have no idea who I woulda pissed on to make them spend 10 minutes keying my truck and making sure they got every panel. the only idea is someone was jelous and maybe drunk and decided I don't need a new paint job. The truck is 3 months old and has 6k miles on it. My awesome silver paint job is now tarnished. Well I made the police report and waited a while and no one has touched the truck since so I've filed a claim to have it repainted. I sure hope they can make it look as good as she once did. I also hope That punk doesn't come back and I really hope i don't find him, because i would gouge out his eyes and skull f#ck him. The insurance company (allstate) wants me to go to one of their "shops" which is basically a cheap chain paint job but I'm opting for local shop I know that does very good work. I just wanted to let everyone know how bad it sucks, and if someone has a problem with me, they should should say it to my face and if they wanna fight me , go ahead, but this stuff is just childish and cowardly. Lets all pray I find the person before he does it again to someone elses beloved cage.

You ask anybody that knows me and they will tell you that I'm the most paranoid person when it comes to my truck. And the reason I'm paranoid is exactly what happened to you. I'm very protective when it comes to my truck. You can push me around, but you touch my truck and it's over. I know exactly what it feels like too. I had an 88 CRX that got keyed. I happend to be working out on a 80# pushing bag when I noticed this metal deep scratch running down the passenger side of the car. I got so mad that I litterally broke the chain holding the bag.

Just wanted to share my matching opinion.

NOTHING pi$$es me off more than that. My Lightning's tailgate was keyed a week after I got it. I HATE ignorant people!

At least one good thing came of it - you can make sure that you get a HIGH quality paint job! I'm sure it's not as apparent on silver, but the factory paint is SUPER dry, and orange-peeley. Heck, alot of people would use it as an excuse to do any little custom paint stuffs they want done.

It'll be ok, though. Definitely some wasted time - but hopefully you'll find a good body shop, and the Lightning will be better than ever.

Dude, that sucks bad. Is there any chance the insurance company can just cut you a check for what they will pay and you can put it towards a real nice custom paint job? Or you just pay the difference over what the will pay?

Some moron threw an egg at my L last week while parked overnight in my driveway. Two days after Halloween.

I had four cars in the driveway, but they definitly targeted the L.
Put a nice hole in the paint on the hood too.

Another jealous idiot!

That sucks, but you are doing to right thing by going to your own shop. I used to have Allstate, and they will try to tell you that they won't pay unless you go to their own shop. That's BS. Allstate will probably also say they won't paint the whole truck. If I were you and they decided that, I would put in the extra $$ to have the shop do it right and paint everything. I don't care how good the shop is, when it comes to matching colors, there is always that one light you look at the truck and you will see how it doesn't match even if others don't see it.

As John Travolta said in Pulp Fiction, "You don't F**k with another man's vehicle" Good luck

Hey guys, I'm right there with you. About two months ago some jealous a$$hole decided that he "needed" all of the special nameplates on my L. He apparently used a screwdriver to pry them off and I ended up having to get both front fenders, the tailgate, and both doors painted to repair all the damage. Lucky for me the Allstate claims adjuster was cool about it and it only cost me $100 for the deductable. They let me go to any bodyshop I wanted and he did a very good job. Nobody but me can tell it was repainted, but thats only because I know it's there.
Sad thing is that they caused $1300 in damage to steal $40 worth of nameplates, and this happened right in front of my house. It just sucks that you can't have anything nice without someone *******ing with it. Sorry this was long but I had to vent!

Well Im getting it repainted. I've also looked into maybe doing a hood for it while its there. But i have been saving for some 20" replicas. ON a silver truck would yall do the replicas in chrome or leave the stock silver 18s and maybe do a hood

I totally agree, someone who keys ALL panels down to the metal has got a lot of anger.....most likely an X (GET A ROPE!)

talk about parinoid... my truck isnt out of my garage all that often, but when it is, i cane even stand to let it out of my site. when i go to friends houses, i have to park it so i can always see it through a window. i have even gone as far as having my friend move his truck to the driveway so i could put my truck in his garage. every car i have ever owned, 9 total, have been vandalized in one way or another. my lightning and tahoe have not been hurt and i plan on keeping it that way. if i ever catch anyone, you better G D well believe that gun shots are real close behind...chris

you guys are making me more paranoid than i usually am.

i live CLOSE to the bars in a college town. i have covered parking but anyone can walk in and out. however, my only consolation is that all my neighbors have nice cars...ie Lexus IS300, new mustang, audi a4, mercedes C-class..etc etc.

i'm inclined to sleep in the bed of my truck tonite after reading this

I know how all you guys feel. I worked constantly this summer at 3 jobs basically and could finally afford to trade in for my 98 F150 at the end of the summer to see the front of the hood get lightly keyed at school a few weeks after I came back. Someone else had rubbed against the side of the bed of the truck earlier before that but the Ford dealer in town buffed it out for FREE. I did not really know any cheaper body shops in town and they have earned my business the next time... you can't even tell it happened after they buffed it unless like me you know. To make a long story short, I have had a very rough year this last year (I'm 21 and your parent's divorcing is fun, i'm sure some of you can sympathize), the last thing I needed to see is one of the bright points in my life (the new, at least for me, truck being keyed)... really brightens a person's day right? Thanks for listening.

yep i know how you feel. for me, the L is sometimes my ONLY bright spot between my exams and finals and projects and papers....

it's like therapy for me ....but if something happens to her i'll worry over it more than ANY test or exam or project

I'd rather retake my classes than repaint my L (well..until i can afford that cool ghost flame job )
