L or Cobra

Well, I don't have either right now, unfortunately....but, My next vehicle will be an SVT. I'm just not sure which one. I've always wanted a lightning, but since the 03 Cobra arrived, I'm not sure which way to go. Pros and Cons

Pros for Cobra
1. Stock Cobra is faster
2. I love driving a stick(especially when the car is fast)
3. The Cobra get better gas mileage

Cons for Cobra
1. Can't tow
2. It's not an L
3. It's more money

Can you L owner offer any advice/opinions? Thanks in advance.

RobG...sorry to hear about your wreck. I'm glad your ok. I have to admit, your truck was the sweetest truck I've ever seen. I will miss it. Lookin forward to what's next.

Well since you currently drive a regular cab truck I assume that you probably like driving a truck and do not need room for multiple passengers. With that being said I would not trade the L for a cobra anyday. The cobra's are sweet and respond well to mods but to have a truck that has as much power as the L, handles as well as the L, and looks as good as the L is just incredible. Hope this helps.

It depends on how tall you are. I havent drove a 03 Cobra, but I have drove a 99 Cobra. I'm 6'3" and there is not any head room at all. So I would recommend a L. Red of course.

Go drive one of each, and the one that produces the biggest smile goes home with you.

I almost bought an '03 cobra a few months back, but I didn't here's why not:

1. my dog won't fit in the cobra

2. I already have a mustang

3. For half the money I'd spend on the cobra, I could have my mustang doing wheel stands!

4. I just bought my first house and a pickup comes in handy for house and yard stuff.

5. I already owned an L once and I know how much fun they are

6. (sorta the same as 5 & 6 but...) after owning a pickup (especially an L) it is hard to go without one, they are really useful and fun at times.

just my .02

later,
chris

well, I'm only 5'9" so height isn't an issue....and No, I don't need room for extra passengers.

what kind of gas mileage do you guys get?

It's not MILES per gallon, its SMILES per gallon.
Actually, I get around 15-16 mpg.

LIGHTNING

Automatic: 15 mpg / 19 mpg

COBRA

Manual: 16 mpg/ 22 mpg

BTW...Ford haulted production on the '03 Cobra because of some recall of some sort. You might want to check that out before going out to get one. I still think it's a SWEET car and it would put a BIG GRIN on my face to see someone else driving one...kinda like what the Lightning does. I saw a true blue...and I was in the prowler and gave him thumbs up - Then he floored it and I felt like I was on something. I couldn't change my face from the ear-to-ear grin it was forming. Like this Anyways...GOOD LUCK!

I asked myself the same question and decided on the Lightning. My first decision was stick or automatic. I love bangin thru the gears as much as the next guy but my daily driver (ZX2) is a 5 sp so that helps satsifies that need. My sis has a mustang gt and I'm not happy with the feel of it. Plus the Lightning seems to be a little more rare. The ultimate factor was the practicality of a truck. If I want to bring that big screen, or floor speakers home, not a problem in the L...

I also looked at the 03 cobra and yes they are a bad *** car I like having the truck to tow my mustang and haul stuff toy around etc. I am with superfords on this. For the money I saved I can continue to break parts on my 93 cobra and fix it. Tow my cobra when it breaks down. And all the other fun stuff we do in these trucks.

Nuff Said

I just smacked myself.....

I realized that if I had a Cobra, I would look at every Lightning and drool and cry about how much I want one.(Kinda like I do now). I am a truck man....I've owned 2 F-150s, including this one. I had a Focus for 6 months(biggest mistake of my life, but at least it's not a chevy), but I couldn;t stand that thing, so I traded it in ang got my truck.

Thanks for the advice/Info.....Now the only question is.....
Buy one within the next year or Wait till the 05's come out. I don't think I can wait that long though

I prescribe an L asap. do not wait, symptoms could worsen. future trade-in/upgrade to 2005 L is always a possibility.
