I was thinking about it too.

But a truck is so much more liveable on a daily basis.

I do miss rippin on my 5.0L w/hurst shifter. That was a blast. But now I just floor it and watch all the other stang guys out the back window trying to keep up.

Also, don't know about you or your situation? But around here the insurance cost between the two is a large consideration as well.

WOT

Well heres my input..since i own both...

Its all up to what you are going to use both vehicles for...if you need to haul stuff around and are a Home Depot type guy...then the L is for you because you WILL not fit anything in the Cobra and its not lke you would want to.

Plus their is the awesome feeling of WHOOPING *** in a Pick-Up...that you won't experience with anything else.

Now if you want something just for SPEED...than the Cobra is the way to go hands down...Forged Bottom end...few mods and you're knocking on 10's....

Also sorry to break it but the Cobra is MUCH funner than the L...you're actually "Driving" the car since you're banging through gears and you're so low t the ground.

But if it comes down to both you shuld pick the one that suits you most....because i give both a 10/10...now if you both suityou then go test drive them

I would go with the L in your situation. I don't have one, but just traded my 99 Isuzu Rodeo in this summer for my 98 F-150 and am very satisfied. I am the type of person that always has looked for a bit of practical use in a vehicle (like being able to haul stuff inside the Rodeo or tow it, and being able to haul stuff in the truck or tow it), and from my standpoint you will still be able to go really fast in the L and can still haul stuff, which in the Cobra you will really just be able to go really fast, it seems like it may help you out more to go with the L, but I'm not sure if hauling stuff is what your looking for, you understand. Good Luck!

again, i say half shafts will not live in a car like that. now, if there was a live axle option, then yes, buy the cobra. if you want to go fast week after week, buy the Lightning... the cobra will not last - which has been proven already.

Get the L...

I traded my 02 in on a 03 Marauder and while the marauder is a great performance sedan, I find myself missing my Lightning...

I think it's the utility of the truck and the pedal mashing smile-o-meter, something you just can't get in any other vehicle...

I've now owned 2 Lightnings and a Marauder and will probably be back in a Lightning for 04 or 05...

My insurance on my 02 WS6 was $2400
The L $1800

$600 a year is a $50 a month savings. Deffinately helps more making those payments. BTW the L had a higher value than the TA by 2 grand.

You might as well wait for the 2005.

GN, you sure pay a lot for insurance. I pay less than $1600/yr for a 2002 excursion, 2002 Ranger and my 2001 Lightning. You should look into different companies. I do a price check every year to make sure my insurance co. isn't getting the best of me.

easterisland....

Your insurance is cheap because you live in Tennessee. I live in NJ and pay about $1650 a year for my truck. I have nothing on my driving record and that is the cheapest I found. It's only a V6. When I lived in Indiana for a year, I paid $400 a year for my old F150.

Ok...now we are talking about a Car that has been modified...YOU WANNA PLAY,YOU'RE GONNA PAY..

Modify a Lightning=Throw a Rod

Modify a Cobra=Half-Shaft goes...whats your point?

Plus I would feel MUCH MUCH more conftorable modifying a Cobra than a Lightning..and anyways there has been very few cases of half-shaft going(Owners not paying attention to the signs, excessive wheel hop..etc)
It is also true for the Lightning...you have to be aware of what you are doing...safe tunes..etc

But in any car you will encounter problems...but look at it this way you'll be running low 11's high 10s before a half-shaft will most likely go...you'll be running mid 12's to high 11's before a rod most likely goes...

So what I am trying to say is if you want just pure speed than the Cobra is the way to go and I would think everybody would agree...Cobra and Lightning share the go fast factor but for two different categories. So please enough with the comparing...their both amazing.

Damn, you guys in NJ need to get out! I have an accident as of last year on my record and my wife totaled someone's car a couple of years ago which is still working against us.
Between what you guys spend on property tax and insurance you could probably buy a new Lightning every other year!
