Question Air Kit w/ Airbox or ...

Looking to finally get my chip and filter and 90mm, should I go with JLP airkit with the airbox or save the money with an airkit from someone else and get a power tube from REM instead. Does the airbox help out with engine heat that much, since the top is open and heat rises. Just wondering what others think .
Thanx,
Bill

If your going to do an air kit then I would get the air box for it with no doubt in mind. the REM tube is nice but I'm not sure if its worth that much HP on a lightly modded truck.

I would go with the JLP full box ram air. It looks nicer, has the ram air, and it's easy to install w/ no cutting of the fenderwell like the older style ram air kits.

My .02? Keep it simple. Just put an open K&N conical filter on the end of the mass air meter. At speed, there is no way, IMO, you can be sucking in hot air. I know I picked up ET and MPH from mine.

Now if yer planning on going full bore w/ your truck - like 11's or faster, a ram air/cold air box may be the way to go? But for a couple, simple bolt-ons, you'll never see a difference between an open filter or a boxed filter.

Thanx for the continued comments and thank you LIGHTNINROD for that link, very informative. I'm pretty sure I'll get the Ramair kit , but if anyone else has $.02 to throw in I will definately read it.
Thanx Again,
Bill
