Pinion Snubber
Pinion Snubber
Is anyone using Marc Carpenter's pinion snubber?? Just wondering because I love it. It actually launches the truck forward. It is old technology but when it's set right it is awesome.

Depends on how it's set and which way you lean. If you lean too far forward it tends to launch backward more than forward. In high humidity it launches more to the left and forward.
Let me try something a little more elementary. When I say it launches forward, that would be the correct direction under normal circumstances, as it is with my L in "Drive". With the pinion snubber installed, it gets much more bite (meaning traction) to the point of almost no wheelspin (tires[rear in this case] turning with little forward motion of the vehicle). By getting more "bite" (refer to previous sentence) the truck launches forward, the direction you would typically want to go when the vehicle is in Drive. Of course that's relative to the way you sit in the truck too. If you like to ride side saddle like a girl then that may not be forward. It may be sideways.
Jeesh! Wecome to the Comedy Store!

Oh man, that hurt. You burned me for that before so I just yanked the exhaust off and put on a MAC. And, uh, right now they're not clean--they are UNCLEAN. But it's been raining up here almost every other day for 2 weeks now. So let me slide 'til the weather clears. Usually they are clean.
Don D.
Your snubber part left this morning my regular mail.
Let me know when you recieve it.
By the way, I require all trucks using this part to have
clean exhaust tips.

Matter of opinion. I like mine and I like the way it works. It didn't work for you and that's nice to know. I used TR-6 NGKs and they fouled quick so I recommend no one use them. Same thing.
And I DID NOT say it was the best of the best of all the rest. I just said I like it. (Heck, lot's of people love seafood salad but it gives me diahrea.) It doesn't make my truck do anything wierd like porpose or whatever I heard it called. I used this type of setup on some small block mopars i owned previously and it worked great then. I don't like JDX parts but I don't tell anyone not to get his stuff. Ain't MY money. So peace dude. I wanted to get Lakewoods. I used them too and I like 'em, but I couldn't find them when I was looking. So I thought I'd give this snubber a try. Can't say I'm disappointed.
And to satisfy you couple of clean tip freaks-I'm cleaning the L today and I will post a picture of CLEAN TIPS.

Hey DR. D,
Nothing personal..If you have traction bars, why get one??
It may look pretty under the truck, but if you really don't need it for anything, why waste the money. That's all I was saying. I'm not one of those people that have to have everything available on my truck, well, almost everything..lol.
Extra weight in racing, is, slower ET. Why put an extra 10 -15 lbs on the truck, if you don't need it.
Engine stuff is a different story..TR6's (What size pulley was you using, gas, timing, chip program, etc)
Hey, just my opinion...
Go back to polishing, should look like this when your done.....

I don't want to polish so much it turns red but if the girl will pop out from somewhere I'll polish it daily, but she has to keep her hands off. I hate fingerprints. I just finished polishing it and the only difference in yours and mine is the shade of black. Yours has more red in it than mine.
No offense taken. All I use is the snubber and I like it. I can't imagine everybody liking something. Like I said tho', the only disadvantage is you need to adjust for track or daily driving.
BTW your truck is sharp.

Thanks, Your tips looked so clean in the picture, they were sparkling..
I admit it is a nicely made item. I had Nitto Drag Radials on when I tried the snubber. No matter where I adjusted the snubber, my truck would bounce up and down at launch on the street or strip. I heard it works pretty good with F1's and no traction bars. Why waste $125.00 on a pinion snubber, Why not use the money towards some traction bars and not worry about breaking your driveshaft, in my case shaft(s).
I know all about racing my truck with Nitto drag radials and a pinion snubber, all you get is broken driveshafts. For me, two driveshafts in two weeks. Everyone told me I better get some tractions bars, I told them, I'll be alright. I was wrong, they were right...
