Roush Lowering Kit Installed
Roush Lowering Kit Installed
Wow !!! I am totally amazed at how nice my
truck is now. I installed the full Roush Kit ...
front springs, shocks, bump stops, and the
rear leaf springs and left my 2" shackles.
I will post a pic tomorrow in the light, and
it will shock you.
The test drive was awesome ... cornered much
better than the stock setup. Now I think I'm
ready for those twisties.
Oh yeah ... No drilling, sanding, welding or
other things were needed. Maybe that's
because going back to the people that
designed the truck is a pretty good bet?
And for those of you that KNOW me, I did
it all myself, which amazed me even more !!!

Its very nice to hear someone has Roush kit on 02 Lightning.
I thought only 99-00 L can install them???
I have tested drive a Roush F150. The ride and handling were amazing!
I know the complete kit is pretty pricey...HOW MUCH DID YOU PAY FOR THEM???

Way to go Cliff! Isn't it an awesome ride? Stick on some good skins (I'm using Pirelli's) and you WILL scare yourself how sharp and hard you can take turns without understeer! (oversteer is always there, lol, throttle control is always key).
I love my handling with the ROUSH kit... Which shocks are you running with it? QA1's? Now you'll be joining me in doing this without falling over.

FYI: From NLOC Road Racing forum: Suspension drop reference
Measured (not advertised or guesstimated) drop for Roush is on the list.
---------------------------------------------------------------
These are the measurements I'm interested in...
rear measurement:
front measurement:

Measure from the centerline of the wheel up (plumb) to the fender lip. Any other measurement doesn't count. 1/4" accuracy is good enough.
If you have a new or used stock Lightning, those measurements are helpful for a baseline.
Provide:
Manufacture and front drop type / Manufacture and rear drop type
Listed front drop/Listed rear drop
measure front/measured rear
Front spring age/Rear spring age (months)
(tire and wheel sizes don't matter)

1. Both measurements where 1/4" above ave.
2. Coils and springs 23 months old. If fronts and rears didn't sag, then both measurements assumed 1/2" off to give 19 and 18.
3. Several newer lightnings were higher in the rear than others
4. Stock measurement was 18.5 and was ignored. Difference from ave. was too great to consider.

MSRP is about 1500 or so ... I got it for less than that.
Funny thing was when I called Roush and asked why
there were no instructions in the kit I was told "Our
kits are for PROFESSIONAL installation ... just look on
your FORD maintenance CD to find the instructions."
Now I NEED to get one of those !!!
So kudos to all our regular vendors that send instructions.
REAR 16.50" FRONT 17 1/4" -- The rear IS sitting on the bump
stops right now, so it may have to go back to stock shackles.
