NEW JDM Intercooler !!!!
This is a new piece that will be available soon from JDM. A replacement aluminum heat exchanger ( the one behind your lower grille ).
Here it is mounted on my truck. Fabrication of new mounting brackets was necessary do the 'coolers girth.
Now for the good news. I tested this piece out today on the street, highway and at the track and I am happy to report that this baby pulls heat out like a mother f...er !!!! I had a scan tool hooked up so I could see the difference between outside air and Intake air temperature ( measured after the blower and intercooler ) and here are the results. On the highway the temperature difference was between 1 and 0 degrees. Stock heat exchanger was usually between 3 and 5 degrees. In city driving the new intercooler was great, temps only rose 2-3degrees above ambient temps. Stock was 12-15 degrees difference. At the track this monster worked incredibaly well. At the tree the I.A.T read 50 degrees, during the run the highest the I.A.T. got to was 62 degrees and as soon as I let off the throttle it was almost immediately back down to 50 degrees. The stock heat exchanger jumped at least 30 degrees.
Here's my track results.
1st run.
1.64 60'
12.001 @ 111.85 mph
2nd run.
1.66 60'
12.002 @ 112.06 mph.
These runs could have been better if it wasn't for the 20mph sidewind. But I think that all things being equal this intercooler is good for nearly a tenth, especially if you run more than a 4# pulley.
More testing tomorrow.
