what pully
Ok I don't care what belt your running your going to have belt slippage rob, trust me cause I built the best unit out there for our trucks to prevent slippage and it still slipped.
Your right about the upper and lower pulley combo being a good way to go, but 4lb lower and 2lb upper equals more then a 6lb lower alone. That 4lb lower pulley is rated at 4lb's with a stock pulley on top and the top 2lb pulley is rated at 2lb's with the stock lower.
I don't know the exact calculation to figure it out but paul from REM did it for me before and its over 6lbs of boost total. I'm getting 15lbs of boost on average and thats with kooks headers and bassani exhaust.
Ok for you guys I would suggest the following just to try it cause you'll be happy. Get a 4lb lower pulley and see how much you like it, its going to be a nice increase. If you get board with it then get a upper pulley put on the blower also. its a nice combo to have on your truck in my eyes. As far as installing a pulley goes, the PSP pulleys are very simple to install. If you can't install one then you should ever work on your truck again, HAHAHAAH.
And please make sure to swap your plugs out so you don't go breaking off that platnum crap in the motor.
as far as wear goes on the blower? well spinning anything faster is going to create more wear, but a 4lb pulley isn't going to cause that much more wear on your blower. besides by the time the blower goes bad your going to want a Works 140 blower on that truck, HAAHHAHAHAHA. The smile on your face when you hit the big long one on the right is going to make you forget about any wear and tear. you bought the truck to have fun right, so have fun with it! if you didn't buy it for fun, well sell it and buy a 5.4 STX.

Killa, Thanks for explaining that
What it came down to for me that made me write the MFG is what happen when I took it off last week. I started my Mods with just an upper and was extremly happy with how quick the Boost came on. Like I've been saying, you can get 10 lbs pulling out of a driveway at the slight touch of the pedal. Months later I added the 4lb Lower, "HOLY MOLY THAT WAS A GREAT COMBO"
I of course immediatly had more boost. Then after the melt down I wanted to be safe a while and I took the upper off. Immediatly I noticed that it no longer had immediate boost like before. I STILL HAVE every bit of 13 and maybe more, but it doesn't come on like it did before "at the slight touch of the pedal". I was so blown away by the difference that I changed it back, immediatly got the faster boost up back, and then took it back off.
For those that do not have an Upper, they will never understand what I mean. I'm not saying it's more boost (although it might be)
I'm saying it comes on faster, and at lower throttle. After taken it off and on, I proved that. After writting the MFG, I proved it again. As for slippage, it if did for all those miles, I never knew it, never heard it, and show no signs of it. But if Killa tells me it has to be slipping a little, I got to believe that, He knows more about the L than I ever will. The funny part about this argument is when I took it off last week and went to the track, I ran my fastest 1/4, fastest 1/8, Hightest MPH, and one of my best 60's EVER. 12.8 on bald F-1's @ 106.47. This was done with only a 4lb pulley, and I was spinning and slipping the whole way.
Go Figure ?

Rob, what you are feeling is because you are spinning the blower faster with the upper pulley installed, as opposed to the stock size on there. It's a matter of increased blower rpms, not if it's an upper or lower pulley. It's like if you took a 6lb lower off and put on a 4lb lower. You are just slowing the blower down. With both of your pulleys, the blower spins faster at a lower rpm. It's got nothing to do with that weird sales pitch Terry gave you. Blower rpms are blower rpms, whether you are doing it with an upper or a lower pulley.
Sal,
Is that what I experienced, does it truly make a night and day difference at 1/8 pedal like that ? I had soooooooo much low RPM Boost that I was constantly at 10 lbs no matter how slow I was going. I've run a 4 lower by itself, and a 2 upper by itself. I can honestly say the 2 upper "by itself" Boost's up much faster, and at lower throttle and rpm. NOT MORE BOOST, just at less pedal.
To tell you the truth, I like it better the way it is right now. I can play a little more without constantly being at guage pinning Boost.
Less stress on the Motor, MUCH LESS HEAT ON THE PLUGS
After I blow the Motor, I'm gonna stay stock except for that nice new Blower I've been hearing so much about
