Chrome flaking problem/help

I bought an extra set of L tips last summer and sent them off to be chromed. I took the tips off a few weeks ago for the winter and saw that the top layer of chrome is flaking off. I emailed the company that chromed them and they said to send them back for warranty work. Now, their guy says that there is a dent in the tips where the chrome is flaking and he will not warranty it.

I cannot recall if there was a dent on the tips before I put them on the truck or not and have no proof anyway. There is a dent on them where the chrome is flaking, but it is quite large and very uniform. I told the chromer that the steel on the tips is thick and I have a hard time believing that a rock that would hit the tips hard enough to cause a dent would not cause any other visible damage to the chrome. There is no other damage to the other layers of chrome.... not even a scratch where the dent is! In my opinion, the dent was there before they were chromed, and this is just an awful coincidence.

What do you all think?

babolt used to sell some really nice ones too!!!

screw that crap size tips, get bigger ones that fill it up more!
