Question Trans Removal Instructions Needed.

Tried removing my tranny today with my Dad. If anyone has any documentation on this please let me know. We have one or two bolts on the top of the bell housing that we cant figure out how to get to. If anyone can help with that or send over a link to some fancy docs on this subject I would be very grateful.

Get about about three feet of extentions, and come at it from the back side of the tranny.

you mean mail you a copy or do you want to download it? I put it up on KazaA if you have that you can download it and write it to a cd. If you do a search on the word "sevcd" it should be there. If you want me to mail you a copy let me know!

you need a long (or a lot of ) extension. once you get the exhaust and driveshaft and crossmember out of the way, you can lower the back end of the transmission and it'll make these bolts easier to see and remove.

later,
chris

IMO, the easiest way is to remove upper intake.

That is the way! Done it several times now. Got it down to a little under 2hrs to swap converters in and out. Now that I have long tubes maybe even faster. -Mat-

Talking It's out!

Well, it took us about 10 hours but we got the darn thing out! We had to drop the exhaust and remove the cross member for the tranny mount. Then we let the back end of the tranny come down as far as possible. Using about 4 feet of extensions and a universal we somehow managed to get the top bolts out of the housing. I bet it’s going to be a lot of fun putting those bolts back in.

Why does this truck have to be so damn hard to work on?!?!?!

Anyways, thanks for the help everyone! I should have my monster box in soon.
