Stock Jack!
A few weeks ago, I got a flat with the L. Sidewall puncture. Have any of you ever attempted to jack up your L with the stock ford equipped jack? Yeak...ok....that's not gonna happen. I placed the jack at the lowest point and at FULL height it didn't even LOOK different. So I had to call a wrecker, to bring a floor jack. He does...now this is the clincher......THE FLOOR JACK AT FULL HEIGHT STILL DOESN'T LIFT THE TIRE OFF THE GROUND ENOUGH TO GET IT OFF!!! The more we jacked it up...the more the suspension just dropped down. At this point I'm just laughin'. This poor schmuch has to go back and get this ultra heavy-duty floor jack that they use for semi's and 4x4's. This thing was a monster! It hardley fit under the truck fully compressed! The contact plate looked like a dinner plate! Now I'm really laughin'. This did the trick though. I went to put the jack back in the truck and thought...why the he!! should I? It's useless anyway, might as well save some weight. Anyone else have this experience?

Changed mine on the side of the road, with the stock jack, at 4:00 AM on my way to work, in the dark. No troubles, aside from not being able to see very well. You have to use a jack point that doesn't allow the spring to lose tension.
HI!... I've used my stock jack before and had no problems. Don't bother trying to put it at the jack points that are in the owners manual. If I got a flat at the back of the truck I simply put the jack under the rearend center section. If the flat is in the front I used the front cross member.
As far as changing a tire the standard jack may work I don't know..What I do know is never try to use that jack when rotating your tires!!!
.. If it wasn't for the sender block I placed on the right front Arm my front rotor, bumper would've taken a plunge for the ground...Never try that unless you have a floor jack...

I'm wondering if we all got the same jacks with our trucks. I have a 2000 L and was not able to get the stock jack to work. It wouldn't go high enough to get the tire off the ground. I've changed tires with my floor jack several times though.
Sounds like you had the jack under the frame instead of under a part of the suspension. If you put it under the frame, then you have to lift the truck so high that the suspension fully extends then it will start to lift the wheel. You need to place it under the axle housing for the rear, or under the control arm for the front. Under those points it only takes 1-2" of lift to get the wheel off the ground.
