Exhaust but NO Cat-back

Well im thinking about going right now and having exhaust put on my 01 L. Whats the difference in getting a cat-back or just having a muffler welded on? I figure it would be cheaper if i just got a muffler. What is the point to a catback if people say it doesnt really give power. Any advice would help please.

Johnny

Cat-back bolts on , for us atleast. Maybe thats an advantage. And as far as the sound I think that the cat back systems that you can buy generally sound better than just for an example, flowmaster mufflers. Thats just my opinion though.

Just go with a Magnaflow or two for the inexpensive sound upgrade... just my .02

Combine it with a set of polished tips and your all set.

I would have to say in my opinion, just go with mufflers .If you run more than one make sure you run some sort of x-pipe.From what I hear you will lose power from Flowmasters. So perhaps a magna-flo,,Good luck whatever you decide..

A "cat-back system" is only a muffler(or two), tail pipes and tips. Just welding on a "muffler" is not the way to go IMHO. You will still need pipes and tips???

JDM's cat-back works(see sig) and looks/sounds great---to me.
