Fabricated Intake
I welded it together in my garage, from 12 pieces of aluminum tubing and sheet. As you can see, I'm not a very accomplished aluminum welder, but I'm getting better. I haven't welded any aluminum for 25 years. It also isn't easy to weld 16 gauge aluminum anyway. It just replaces the stock rubber boot.
It's a prototype part that will used as a pattern, after testing. I'm going to look into making the part out of carbon fiber.
Right now, the clamp arrangement is making my Accufab T/B stick
(again), so I have to get a longer piece of 4.5" silicone hose. The clamp has to be all the way up the throttle body, or it distorts just wnough to make the T/B stick.
I added weld bungs to the base, so I can use -12 braided steel hose for the PCV system. It's a little pricy to use, but I have always liked the look.
I'll keep you posted on the progress.

38-39 hours to this point. Prototype stuff like this thake a lot of hours to get it right. Before I send it out for duplication, I'm going to bondo it smiith, and have it powder coated. Then they can make a form from it. Subsequent parts should take considerably less time.

First off....nice job.....second, it looks like you might have to make a couple different styles if you plan to market them anyway. Your MAF set-up and mine are definately different. The Fast-Air setup that I use, positions the MAF quite a bit lower.
