Anyone do a blowthrough on their Trucks?

No...But I FARTED in it once:o

 

Blow through used to be the term for cutting out the entire area under the window in the back of the cab. You would then cut an equal hole in the bed of the truck. Then you install an accordian style gromet all the way around the hole to keep out water. This gives you a large opening to pass items through to the bed (especially for stereo purposes).

I have seen it done years ago on a demo truck by Polk Audio. In fact, there were a set of these silver trucks rolling around. If I recall correctly they were silver Lightnings, and they had 8 12's behind the rear seat. They had to create a blow through in order to accomodate the air space needed in a sub box of that size.

I remember seeing a bunch of trucks with blow throughs, and particularly with mini trucks when those were popular. I personally would not do this, for it is not reversable. Once you rip a big hole in the back of the cab, you would have a great deal of work to repair that.

 

Yikes, I cant imagine the cab will be very rigid after that either.

 

A friend of mine paid big bucks to a local stereo shop to do this on his S-10. He has 3 JL 12w3's and it sounds awesome. Personally I wouldn't do it... it has to kill the structure a ton. Sounds and looks good, but if he ever gets in a crash... I don't think his truck will look too good.
