Two different techs and four hours later, my L is no longer making the rattling noise (so far):-) They heard the noise but could not figure out where is was coming from. Finally, the conclusion they came to was lose exhaust hanger. Which is strange because I checked them 10 times myself. They dropped the tips down about 1'' to 2'' and problem solved. I still cannot figure out how this was the cause because they (the tips) were not hitting the ground effects. Anyway, my baby is back to her quite self, except for this weird whine that comes from the engine when I'm at WOT. Oh welll, I think I can live with it, hahaha. Thanks for all your help guys! I'm gettting my new exhaust on wednesday, I'll make sure the tips are not too close to the ground effects. Who knew, problem would have probably been solved on Wednesday anyway. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

Jim

Way back in the day, there were a couple of guys who reported some similar issues. I don't know if this will apply to you, and I realize that you have the problem fixed, but depending on how much you lowered your exhaust this might be something to check so that you can tighten it back up. I haven't had the problem, so I don't know exactly where to check, but if you do a search you might be able to find the old threads. In any case, there were a couple of guys who said that they had some screws that were going up through the body that had come a little loose and were touching the exhaust. I have had a similar rattle from my catalytic converter heat shields so I know how bad it is - downright embarassing at a stoplight or in a parking lot - makes you want to hide your truck in the garage.

Anyway, glad you got it fixed, but I would maybe check for those screws just to make sure nothing's going to fall off....

I had a similar noise for a while, when I got around to checking where it was coming from, found out that the passenger side shock broke and came loose and was bouncing around inside the spring.

I have had similar problems at different times with a shock and rear sway bar. They can be tight enough that you cannot easily move them by hand but will shift under the force of frame on suspension movement, especially over a bump.

I have also had the heat shield rattle like Wheels, not fun.
