Thanks all. I guess i just have to see how it goes. it doesnt look as bad in the daylight so maybe it wont be too much. My friend says he will pay, has the cash and doesnt want to end our friendship on this so it looks like it might turn out ok. Needless to say i will be the only operator when my baby is back and runnin. Thanks for your advice and comments. Bluelightning you are a great person and i hope your recovery is quick. Best of luck to you. Thanks everyone.

can you take pictures to show us what happened? I know somone who isnt on your x-mas list. My wife has a lightning, and she won't even let ME drive it, all i have is the kids, and this damn ..minivan.. ah well. It goes to show never let another man drive your car, or borrow a bath robe, the bath robe is a diff story.. for a different time. Glad to hear you are ok, as that is the most important part-
what time of night was this?

It was at like 8 oclock at like 930 we finally got it out of the woods. I am so shocked the cops didnt come in that time. Many cars passed by. I dont know how the cops werent called. Yeah i will be the only one driving from now on. As for pictures i can see what i can do but i dont have a camera. My friend does so i will see if he can do it.

Don't know about the motor vehicle laws by you, but in Cali, ya have to report any accident with more than $600.00 property damage OR any bodily injury...
Don't know your age, or the age of that driver, but if he's under 25, your ins. may not cover him even if he's a permissive user. If over 25, then the truck would be covered should you have to resort to calling in the ins. company.

Wait a minute!
You guys actually let OTHER people drive your trucks??
Hmmm.... I never thought of that before. Now I know why.
Unless the guy can pay you in one lump sum then expect to have a banged up L for quite some time. Sure, you are partly to blame for allowing him to drive. I suggest you turn it in on your insurance and do it soon.

Ouch!
Does he have a vehicle and is he insured? You might be able to make a claim against his insurance company or if he is covered under his parents policy, make a claim on theirs. I would explore that avenue first if he can't pay you.
I couple years ago I had a situation where my son was lent a car to drive home and he got in a wreck in a parking lot. My son does not have a license or a permit, but my insurance company covered the damages to the friends car he was driving. He was only 16 at the time, but I was surprised he was covered. I was expecting to fork out about $3400.00 to the owner of the vehicle.
You might also want to talk to your agent. They get paid to give you advice and it won't affect your insurance if there is no claim made. I've been with my agent for over 30 years and he has saved my bacon many times by giving me the proper advice. Hopefully your insurance covers it if your friend was driving. Him being 18 might be a problem though. Hopefully it will all work out and he can pay it off. Like wolff mentioned, rules will sometimes be different for under 25 year old drivers.
Good luck and hopefully things work out ok and you can still remain friends.
