Performance #s for V8 Mustang
Performance #s for V8 Mustang
A friend of mine is considering the Infinity G35 Coupe, and he asked me what a stock, 4.6 liter V8, manual tranny, non-SVT, non-Cobra late model Mustang could run in 0-60, quarter mile, top speed, etc.
Does anyone have any published figures or personal time slips? It seems all the mags cover the SVTs, the Cobra Rs, and other variations, but don't cover the plain-jane V8 Mustang.
He wants to know if a Mustang can outrun the G35 (which is a luxury version of the Nissan 350z, a nice sports car IMO)
Thanks!

Hey, check out www.car-stats.com. This site will give you the information that you are looking for.
The two should run pretty even, given the same driver.........The Stang should yield mid 14's, 260HP, RWD..................The G35 coupe should yield mid 14's also, 280hp, RWD (I'm not saying RWHP...........but rather rear wheel drive).
The 350Z is supposedly a low 14 second car, but keep in mind it weighs in at about 250 lbs less (2 less seats), and 7 more hp!
Nice rides, all of them..................There is about a 6 to 8k price difference though...........throw in 8k worth of mods on a GT, and you're talking about a MONSTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A GT w/manual should run 13.8 - 14.2, depending on the weather. It won't outrun the G35 Sports Coupe by much...the GT has more torque, but less hp. The G35 Sports Coupe is a sweet car for only about 5k more than the Mustang. The 4dr G35 is about a half second slower than the SC, and will cost mid 30s.
Thanks for the info!
I'm thinking about adding the 350z to my stable, but first I'll see how it does in it's first year out. I like it 'cause it's a pure spartan sports car, with 2 seats, race suspension, and rear drive. I wish they turbocharged that 3.5 liter V6 though; that would've been sweet!
