With these "ram-air" setups does anyone worry about all the road crap flying up into the filter. I know most stuff wont make it through the filter but I was told that there is small sand more like dust almost that will go straight through the filter. Right now i have mine blocked off. Do you only use this setup at the track or everyday? Thanks

It's F-ugly, but it does work. I did a setup in my F250LD. I've drivin it in some heavy rain and haven't had any problems with the filter getting wet.

Don, so does that mean this guy was wrong?

Wasn't takin' a shot at either of you, or your setups, just stating what this dude told me..

And yea Rob, I would think ANY cold air amount entering would be good idea..

..was just asking i guess how much "force" of air will be "rushing" into your setups at 100mph? Enough to notice a difference?
Sorry, i never tracked my truck nor followed any track setups, so maybe its me just being confused here, lol.

From my experiance I would have to say the guy is wrong. I know mine works. One day I was driving around with my scan tool hooked up, and I noticed that my air intake temp wasn't going down. I stopped to do a erand, and noticed there was a peice of paper stuck to my grill infront of the scoop. Once I removed it and started driving again the intake temp dropped real quick.

One thing I would tell Rob or anyone the shorter the hose is the better it will work. As far as debris or water getting into the filter. I never got any water on the filter, but the filter get dirtier where the hose is, so that shows it is working. I can imagine that the JL or PSP kits that mount the scoop under the bumper draw more dirt and stuff than my setup.

Thumbs up

Okay, thought it was going to be "Poor Mans" Cold Air via the Home Depot Speed Dept.

Used a 3.5" drain hose with a 4" 90' pipe into the bottom of the air box with a K&N.

Check my gallery for pictures.

My PSP Fast Air is 'open' all the time(36,100 miles). IMHO, $25 spent on an Outerwear filter 'sock' is money well-spent as it keeps the filter clean(er) and does not hinder performance.

FireGuy

I liked your set up so much I went to Homey tonight and
re-did mine the way you did it. DAM IT WAS HARD getting that 4" pipe past that crazy A$$ looking bottom Radiator hose of ours. Inlets and outlets shooting out everywhere, I surly wouldn't want to blow a lower radiator hose while on vacation, would probaly take a week to find one. I wrestled with that monster hose getting it inside the bottom of the box, but somehow I did it.
I can't believe how big that hose is, I like it, I like it.
As long as no cats and dogs go up there and have babies we should be fine

Thanks for the Great Idea
Hope you don't mind I borrow your pictures, since I got the same exact set up and it's too dark to take pictures right now.
