What oil should I use?
Book says motorcraft 5W20. As I understand it this is a semi synthetic oil. Should I go full synthetic? If so what grade of oil should I use. I am not talking about brand, but rather if I go full synthetic do I still use 5W20?
I was talking to a Ford teacher and he said the bearing tolerences in the fords are very strict and to make sure I use 5w20. He said this is also true for civics but not cars like GM.
Any input?

Cool, Thanks for the info guys. So I guess I will get the motorcraft or whatever 5W20 semi synthetic for now since I only have 1900 miles on it.

SVT recommends you not switch to fully synthetic until you reach 6-8K mi.

does 5w-20 mobil 1 even exist. I put mobil 1 5w-30 at 10,000 miles. Marbles in a can sound at startup is gone and have had no problems

!!! as 01Lightning from Warner-Robins has prominently and eloquently displayed....5W30 Mobil 1, which I just purchased tonight for tomorrow's oil change (my first) with a K&N hi performance oil filter...(also have AC Delco for next time)
CAFE standards be damned, I've made up my mind. Besides, they don't sell Mobil 1 5w20 synthetic off the shelf here yet, and I ain't ordering it cross border with our atrocious northern peso exchange rate, thank you.
Wally Mart and Canadian Tire prices for the 5w30 stuff are virtually identical.
As Gopher suggested, it'll probably cross-grade into 20 anyways. Mileage is now 19K, so it's time for synthetic now.
!!! BTW, I got the marbles in a can sound at the last 2 morning startups, so I'll vouch whether Mobil 1 cures this or not...
Heck, it's the same Triton engine, and for Southern Ontario, the 5W is plenty good for winter startups (pumpability), as temps aren't as severe here as in Minnesota or the Dakotas, for example.
