First time at track w/Nitto Drags
First time at track w/Nitto Drags
I am actually a little dissappointed. I did not spin so that part is good. The 60' light was apparently not working on either run so I have no idea about the 60' times. My ET's were 8.405 and 8.444 which is what I have been running on my stock F1's. Do these tires need a break in time? What do I do to launch better? What kind of tach do you guys leave from w/ Nittos or ET streets?
To the truck's benefit it was a hot and weird night. A lot of breakages by other cars and a sweet silver mustang w/ a blower that runs 5.7's to 5.9's rolled 4x after crashing into the guardrail. Maybe it will be better next time.

Mark,I got mine on yesterday and the first few miles they felt pretty slippery.I could spin them at will from a 10mph roll.
Today after a few of those short burnout and a few miles they feel pretty good.Haven't "stood" on it yet so I don't know for sure but I think they just needed a little time.

Mine felt great on the street from the very first throttle punch. And I do no think they were spinning much at the strip either. Just the truck did not run what I thought it would. Maybe it was the air.
I was playing on a backroad today and launching from a dead stop there was just a little spinning involved in first, nothing like the F1's. The Nittos are awesome on the street for sure.

Hate to tell you but, If you were hooking on F1's, then used the same launch technique on the Nittos and were hooking, your times are not going to get better. Traction is traction, wether its a street tire or a slick. Same mods, same diameter tire, same launch methods=same times(considering you hooked each time). The only real variable involved is rolling resistance. Nitto to F1's--I'd bet the rolling resistance is very close to the same. Slick to treaded tire, I'd say the slick has more.

They definitely are not spinning like the F1's!! I did not mean to imply that I was hooking as good with the F1's. The Nitto's definitely seem to hook better on the street and at the strip. The 60' light was not working apparently so I do not have anyway to compare except overall ET's which were very close. I will try again next week.
