Unhappy Anyone else have clearance problems like this with traction bars?

Well after my dissappointment the first time around with the upper Metco bars not fitting on my lowered truck, I'm p*ssed to find these new bars cause clearance problems. I'm stuck with less than 70mm clearance with them mounted. I've found that I can't get out of most driveways without scraping them, let alone get over speed bumps. What gets me is that I specified the bars had to work with the Belltech 3/4 drop.

I'm not going to mention vendors here, rather I'm asking for opinions on ways to rectify the problem without shipping them back (it would cost me upwards of $100 to do so from here). I've had some suggestions from guys here. One idea was to cut the mounting bracket down and re-weld the bottom plate higher up closer to the chassis. Another idea was to mount the front of the bar directly to the chassis, I suspect that would effect the geometry of the bars though.

Anyone got any ideas?

Oz

I also have the 3/4 drop, and I spoke to the guys at metco directly. They are in the process of developing a unit for the 3/4 drop. Currently there kit only works if you are using just a 2 inch drop shackle in the rear.

All the bar does is keep the axle from wrapping up.....I don't believe geometry/angle of the bar comes into play

If you did raise it up to far the exhaust would be an issue. I see that you already rotated the exhaust clamps because of clearance. You could gain maybe 2 inches with modified front brackets. Leave the rear brackets alone. Raising those will reduce the leverage on the rear axle.

Fast Gator, that sounds promising... If they will still work the same that way, I can get the modified to mount directly to the chassis in no time at all.

air1kdf, yep we were definitely only going to modify the front brackets, as the back are up out of the way already.
