factory tech converter vs. PI converter? i need info for both.

well since my trans is fried and i gotta get a new one now is the time to do the converter. i wanna hear good and bad stories for both converters. pi is rather pricey and factory tech is much cheaper. is there a reason why it is so cheap? anyone with info on this please help me decide, i have to order one tomorrow so i need info now. thanks in advance.

Check out Yank converters too, they are much better than PI and custom built for your need!!!

I'm sure Gregg will give you more info, but the FT converter is a rebuilt stocker and the PI is a new unit.

Is the Yank torque converter quiet. I am getting a little tired of the precision Industry rattling at idle when in drive.

TheHylandr,
Real nice #'s for your mods. How long was the install, and how well do you think it would work for a daily driver?

Rusty - 3K is totally streetable. You can definately tell it's there, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Don - my converter is completely silent. Mike is a guy who will stand by his product 100%, offers a great product and great customer service. What more could you ask for?

Air - I had a shop do the install since I'm in the military and in a school, I just didn't have the time. The shop quoted 4 hours, but only charged me for 3. I paid $170 for the install and fluids

It will definately work in a daily driver, because that's what my truck is!!! Keep in mind though, that Mike will build the converter with the stall speed that you want. If you want to stay mild, go 24-2600. Feeling a little crazy, 28-3K!!!

I would not recommend anything over 3K as you lose alot of the streetability.

I just got off the phone with Precision, and also Mike from Yank.

I will tell you that Precision doesn't seem to care about my concerns, so that converter will Not be in my truck next season. When I told them what my problems were, they just didn't care. So I said if you won't try to help me I guess I will take it out of my truck, and they said thats cool. Hows that for customer service????

Mike at Yank seems like a cool guy, and told me to hold tight for a few weeks. He told me that they are testing some new materials right now, and should have something that meets my needs. So it looks like I will have a Yank converter next season.

You will be VERY happy you went with Yank and Mike. I honestly cannot say enough good stuff about him or his products!!!

You will have to keep me in the know on the new materials...I just may have to get mine freshened up

Don, doesn't the PI have a warranty? Why don't you send it in for them to look at it?

Everyone else, has anyone else had problems with the PI? I thought that was what everyone was running with good results.

I have a PI, I was going to install in the truck here this week to replace the stock convertor. I've already had a bad experience with an Art Carr convertor and don't want to remove the transmission again.
