Sad story

A friend told me this story tonight...

A friend of his has a 20 year old son. This young man went down to his local SVT dealer and somehow conned the salesman into letting him test-drive a new Lightning. Long story short, the kid totaled it 3 miles into the drive.

This poor truck never even got titled...

what happens to the price of the car then...does the kid have to pay or does the dealer just take it? Was it his fault, I almost blame the salesman......thats why svt's arn't allowed to be driven!!!

Hey, I test drove a Lightning before I bought mine. Some dealerships will let you others won't. My dad also used to work at the one I bought mine from so I bet that helped. And to look back almost a year ago and think I almost bought a mustang GT. LoL Fact of the matter is either that kid is stupid or some1 hit him and that is not his fault. -Mat-

Since when? I can test drive any car at the dealer. They
are trying to SELL me the car, aren't they?

Unless you are AGE INHIBITED, there generally isn't any
problem. I can understand a dealer not wanting a younger
person to test drive it, but if the guy is a serious buyer,
they would probably go along with that too.

And before all you "younguns" jump on this, let's compare
insurance rates ... Fact is, inexperienced drivers (young) have
more accidents.

Im am fine with that statement about (young drivers) but if you were to say young male drivers i would have to argue since i am always being cut off by psycho young female drivers! Prolly cause i go about 10 mph just to **** people off =\

Thumbs up Amen to that...............

I have to agree...... the last SEVERAL times I have commented (see: cussed) a driver, it was a young female, or for that matter, a car full of females.... and I mean HAULIN' IT, in and out of traffic.... usually in one of those little "chick cars"..... we all know what I mean by that.....Neon, or Jeep or V-6 Mustang, Cougar, something small and hope to hell they don't ever smash it @ 75+ mph.

Angry Feelin It

My L is my second truck. Before it I had a 97 F-150. I've found, actually, that most of the bad drivers or Psyco drivers, that I encounter drive the little cars. I mean it's actually quite funny if you think about it. The people drivng the metro's and the festiva's cutting me off and trying to play chicken with a vehicle that is twice as big and three times as heavy. I've seen two bad wrecks, and both envolved either a metro or a festiva driving like a bat outta hell.

I test drove a L before I bought my KR. It was one of two the dealership had, and their only '02. I "missed" a couple of exits on the highway so I could extend the pleasure. I told'em I was looking for a truck and I could get A plan. They immediately got rid of the $4000 (or so) dealer markup and dropped from MSRP to $31K (I think) to make the sale, but I walked away because I wanted A plan price. But yeah, even remembering the test drive brings a smile.

Me too. They just put a dealer tag on it and handed me the keys. I looked at him with a dumbfounded look that he wasn't going. Definately didn't complain though.
