Waiting for Clarion's help???
Waiting for Clarion's help???
I got this e-mail today.....
I guess that's that!!
Hi Mr. Ross,
I have tried to locate the RFI filter for you. Clarion U.S is completely
out of stock. As the PSW is a discontinued item, they will not be getting
anymore.
However, I did some research and the filter is available through Radio
Shack.
Part # 273-104
Description: Snap Together Ferrite Core
The RFI filter should be installed on PSW wire harness, just after the PSW
connector.

SLVRLTNG,
Looks just like the e-mail I received also. I used the RCA connection but requested the core just in case down the road had to go to the "T" harness. Looks like Radio Shack is the answer if changing the ground wire method doesn`t work for the ones with the problem.

Ready for more bad news guys.
I have 3 RFI's and they don't help (from radio shack)
Part #2730105 Snap Choke Core $4.99.
I also did the ground fix the other night and got back all my stations ""BUT"" as the days move by I'm picking up Static
"again" and loosing stations "again". I spoke to both Keith of Clarion USA and Sanjay of Canada and are waiting to see if they can figure this one out ????
This is weird, one day I have the stations, the next I don't ??????

Rob,
Last night I cut my gound wire in the T harness. I put a ring terminal on it and connected it to the same bolt (chassis ground) that I have the other (shorter) gound wire connected to. It didn't seem to get rid of an of the static. Maybe just a tiny bit. But If I disconnect the inline fuse in the Yellow wire the reception goes back crystal clear. I tried touching the ground wire to the radio case as Keith had suggested and the reception would instantly turn fuzzy when ground wire touched the radio.
I also noticed that the clarion amp will run without the T-harness ground wire hooked up. Evidently the shorter ground wire that comes out the back of the sub box will complete the loop as well. I thought it was just there to protect in case the amp frame was shorted or something.
I wonder if we even need both ground wires connected?
I plan on picking up one of those Radio Shack ferrite cores just to make sure that won't clear the reception up. I did notice that when I held the wires in my hand near where they come out of the sub box that the reception cleared up. I wonder if my hand is like a big ferrite core?
Sorry if it sounds like I'm just rambling on but I just wanted to let you know what I found.

Well screw it. I will fix this problem once and for all by placing a new aftermarket head unit in the truck. Then later on ill do the speakers and thunderforms. The clarion does a decent job in delivering bass but this reception problem is just getting on my nerves.
As far as Clarion is concerned, they can go screw themselves. I will never ever, purchase another one of their stereo's or misc hardware again.
I was about to buy a Clarion Pro Audio head unt. I think ill look at Eclipse, Kenwood, Sony and Alpine for my needs.
