Drive Train Loss
Drive Train Loss
Was wanting to know what u guys think the drive train loss is on the L's. I found a site that if u type in your 1/4 time and mph then it tells u what your HP and TRQ is.

What we've seen is not always a fixed percentage, it varies depending on just how much power is being made, which tranny is used, etc.
For example, take a Lightning making 360 SAE Net at the flywheel, and on a good eddy curent dyno you get about 290-291 hp, for a 69 hp loss in that 4R100 driveline, that equals 19.16%.
Try putting a "regular" 5.4 F-150 making it's rated 260 SAE Net hp on the dyno with the 4R70W automatic, and you generally get about 195 hp at the wheels, for a 65 hp loss, or 25%. Take that same truck but with the 4R100 tranny, and once again you lose about 69-70 hp to the driveline at stock power levels. Do this with a 2001 or newer 4.6 F-150 automatic making it's 231 hp SAE rating (4R70W) and you generally get about 165-166 at the wheels for a 65 hp loss, 28.14%.

In a Lightning at max torque in 3rd gear (only way to measure it right) it's 11.2%, and I'm not even going to get into how accurate that number is unless you're an automotive or electricl engineer with experience on drivetrain testing. Evey time I mention it I get all kinds of "you're phu**ing crazy" comments, but that's the number, if you must know. It also has very little to do with the real world, just know for an automatic it's darned efficient.

Lol factory, I would not call u stupid because i have no idea about drive train testing so i'l beleive u hehe. Thank's for your help, I knew they were full of bs. Just like all they guys that hang out on the cruise street saying that there Escort ZX1 can run 12s on a home made turbo ROFL, Well anyways thank's for info
