As far as exhaust, it depends how much you want to spend and how loud you want it. The Akrapovic is the best brand out there, but they aren't as loud as say a Two Brothers Racing. I still recommend the Akra, for it is the only exhaust beautiful enough for that bike.

Good luck with it!!

Do you need a jacket? I have a barely used Medium Joe Rocket Atomic jacket for sale, and it's red/blk/white to match your bike.
Thats what the guy told me about the akrapovic exhaust for the bike. He said it was the best by far too, so I'm leaning towards that one. But how much louder is that pipe VS. the stockl pipe? The stock pipe is just way to quiet for me. I'm used to long tubes headers and bassani exhaust thunder from the L!!!!!!!!!

I would love the jacket but I'm a tad to large for that coat. I'm 6'2" and about 220 pounds so thats not going to fit me.

That thing will look mighty bada$$ in the back of your truck.

The Akrapovic exhausts are not really that much louder than stock, but they are considerably deeper. They will be louder when you get on it, but only realy under WOT.

If you want some more kick in the sound, you can try brands like Two Brothers Racing, Yoshimura, Micron, and MIG. Alot of the choice can boil down to the canister style you want and the mounting position.

Like others have said, the r1-forum is the best source for info. Just stay away from the extremely small and round exhaust canisters, for they are the most obnoxious (since they have very little insulation)

Buy some frame sliders asap, for your bike will tip over when you least expect it. Even a driveway spill will cost hundreds for repair.

GSXR1000

I know the feeling you have. My Lightning is awesome but it will never come close to the high 9sec 1/4s of the GSXR1000 and I will definitely never see 186 on the speedo of the truck.

Love the GSXR1000's. There pretty much the kind of the road stock to stock with any other vehicle in the world.

Nice bike, I have the R6.

"Akrapovic is the best brand out there, but they aren't as loud as say a Two Brothers Racing". While this is very true. It's about 1HP difference. I guarentee that the Two Brothers has the best sound, and an excellent price. Unlike the VERY VERY expensive Akrapovic. Be wary of many others. They may be loud, and only last 1 yr. Do all of your research, then pick up the Two Brothers and you won't be happier. That's what I did, and others have actually sold there exhaust to get the 2 brothers. Just my .02 cents worth

I'm actually keeping my R1 stock, so I haven't been keeping up with the mod scene too much...I've always been a fan of Yosh pipes, but I think you'll get lots of tips from the R1 forums. It's got it's fair share of 'squids', but the seasoned riders there will be helpful.

For the looks dept, I think one of those tail/license plate eliminator systems are really cool...

The R1 runs so good stock, that there's nothing much I'd change on it!

The yosh is what my friend took off of his R6 after trying the two brothers, more power, nicer sound (opinion). I think that I might be able to find a dyno on most of the pipes, if you want.

ZX12 mentioned the fender eliminator kit. I also have it and highly recommend it. That long droop down to the ground thing has got to go. First I chopped it off, within 2 weeks i got the kit.

OK, enough. I'm now at .04 cents

I sold my F4i about 3 months ago. Had too, I like beer way too much. It's not that I get all lit up & ride -it's more like I become fearless. If there's one thing you don't want to be on a rocket -is fearless.

RT,
Just saw an R1 run last night. First time drag racer and still pulled 11.0's (stock). He had just over 1k miles on it.

Well I've been looking around for exhaust pipe and I think I want more sound then performance cause if I gain 1hp more with the two brother's, thats more then I'm ever going to use with this bike I think. This thing is just so damn fast that I can't imagine going faster without wheelie bars!!!

I was looking at those under tail kits for my bike two, any suggestions on what kit to go with?

Any good links to the two brothers pipes?

Thats the pipe on another guys bike.
