Clunking noise!!

Don't know if I'm paranoid or not, but I hear a clunking noise and feel it under my left foot. It's particularly noticeable when turning and slowing down. Anyone else have this issue? Is it a problem? Didn't have it with the HD. Thanks.

Everyone has this...there are certain washers you can get that solve the problem! I don't have the links or emails though, but someone sure will!

Funny! That is the same problem I have been having since the dealer aligned mine. They can not find the noise. Guess I will just get Herb's washers & cam bolts and fix it myself.

You would think they would get this minor thing correct after all of these years.

I've had it since day one, never bothered fixing it either. You learn to live with it

My 99 had it. So I bought a set of washers for the 01, but haven't put them in yet and it's funny but having the washers in the console is keeping the clunk away
I'll put them in when I do the lowering kit

Can someone please tell me where to get the washers, what size, and where to put them once I get them?

go to nloc site, look under supporting venders for Herb's washers. there are 2 machined washers that go on the front and back side of the drivers side rear lower A arm bolt to make the slot into a circle. this slot was used by ford to set the castor or "lead". Once these washers are in place you install a cam bolt kit so that the castor can be set from the top. the clunk occurs because the bolt can slide in the lower A arm slot.

Before you get too far down the 'washer' path, try lubing your steering stops first. Dry stops also cause a sharp snapping or popping sound in parking lots at full lock.

Wink Cluncking noise!!

, baddgene;

Snoopy's right!! When I took delivery the SVT salesman was out in " L "
gassing it up an all, as he pulled up he made a hard left turn
in front of me to park in the first spot buy the enterence and
he hit that steering stop big time! Then off he went in it to
garrage to grease them up! Then when home I looked under
front end and found out what he did. Then 2 months later dropped the " L " and found out Ford stopped installing washers
at factory and had to purchase when I had her alligned after drop.
Always put a little grease on stops when you change your oil and
you won't have the " CLUNK "
