Confusion after Diablo chip reburn...

I sent my Diablo chip into Johnny Lightning to reburn it (for free) with my purchase of a 4# lower pulley...
They said they can't reburn it becuase there hasnt been any program on it in the first place and the chip is bad.
The first thing she did was offered me a new one for $250... or a flip chip for $350 and i said i ran that in my truck and it WORKED. there WAS a program on it... She said it may be a mind over matter thing... I said a friend of mine ran it for a year and there is a night and day difference with the chip and stock.. now i dont have it and i can tell my truck seams a lot different... So she is confused as i am also... I said through it in your 2000 and see what happens... So she is doing that and offered to give me a new chip from Diablo (becuase she is close with them..) for $10 shipping... i said try it out on yours and if it comes up "programmed" then no thanks. Any advise for me or can anyone break this down for me into simple terms why this worked on his truck, and my truck, and its not reading on her reburn program? She said Diablo never programed that chip with anything... Any help I'd apreciate it, Thanks, Shane

All I can say is you would definately know if it was chipped or not.

Night and day difference.

If there was not a program on the chip the truck would not start.

If you dont have a Line mod valve and as was stated the chip was "blank", you have a VERY special lightning that will chirp second when the truck is designed to delay the 1-2 shift AND to cut the fuel to 4 cylinder to protect the tranny.

Translation: Your chip is working fine, someone is CONFUSED

Your chip has a standard program on it, but does not have the Ticks nesessary to put on a custom program. Ticks are what Diablo puts on the chips to know that the correct amount of money has been paid to put on a custom, or second program.

Yours works because it has a standard program, but if you want a custom JL program, it needs to have ticks on it. If it doesnt, you need to either send it in and pay for the ticks to be put on it, or get another chip.

And here I thought that you guys knew everything

how old was the chip i have a chip in my 250 thats a 1 bank chip but its one of the 1st chips produced(read earlier model) i tried putting a different program on it and it did the same thing (chip not formatted error) i know it has a program on it but without the earlier software to program it their is no changing it probably the only thing to do is try sending it in to diablo and see if they can reburn it (or just send them $10 and get it all resolved)

What year truck and computer code do you have ???
I have a Diablo Sport Chip for the ABU-2 computers I took out this week, I would sell it to you for a fair price. And yes it can be re-programmed, it already has been 4 times.

the chips about 2 years old, from Diablo... yeah with the chip in, theres a HUGE diference, some days it'd chirp tires comen out of 2nd... i dont have the line valve yet, do you recamend that? also from diablo? its like $80, how much will that help, it makes it safer on the trans? it wont help anymore than the chip will ?
as for the reburn and all that, i payed Johnny lightning $10 more and they reburned it for me, with "trucks" and my mods... the mass air and the pulley....

as for that one chip for sale, i am interested in it... i am in illinois, e mail me more info on it thanks, Shanezam203@hotmail.com

i talked to sue from Johnny lightning and she talked to diablo, someone else had the same problem, with a chip out of a v10 truck... out chips were both out of date... so it worked out ok, we got (i did for sure) a new chip from Diablo and just payed Sue's shipping of $10 so she burned it for me, and my pro m mass air meter and 4# pulley... so everything is fine...

Switching out chips will wear down the contacts in the PCM
eventually ... Go the couple bucks and get the two tick version
