I beat a DUI charge back in 1988

Thank God I had a good Lawyer. I don't drink much anymore, a friend gave me a 12 pack in may when I changed his spark plugs. I still have 10 left.

Well, I guess I'll be the first to admit to being an absolute IDIOT back in about 97 or 98 when I was 22.

NO I DIDN'T GET A DUI OR ANYTHING.............but worst, I damn near killed myself in my old Grand Am.

Long night of partying, and had no way of getting home, unless I drove myself. Furthermore, after getting into a fight with my girlfriend at the time, I decided to go to her house first to patch things up, then drive home...........both of which are in opposite directions. Anyways, on the last leg, about 2 exits from my house, after SEVERAL drinks, and a VERRRRRRRRRY late night, I fall asleep at the wheel, wake up, and I'm suddenly exiting the highway at about 65-70 mph. I was at least able to avoid hitting the big metal thing in the middle of the exit, but unless I miraculously became Tommi Makkinen in an AWD Subaru, there was no way I'd make that exit, and so despite my best efforts, I still slammed into the retaining wall. The car's front was damaged, but driveable, and no engine damage or nothing.......It looked like someone backed into the front driver side corner REALLY hard.............Since nobody saw, and nobody was around, I drove home, FREAKING OUT, and that was officially my last STUPID act involving alcohol.............I thank God nothing happened, and now, the most I drink when I'm out is at the most, a 2 for 1 in a happy hour.

I'm sure many have similar stories, but I just hope if there is, that you learned from that mistake, like I sure as hell did. And be thankful that you made it thru unscathed.

JC

Don't drink and drive!!! Especially in your L. I have a 99 VB Bug that I almost totaled by attempting to take a curve at about 60mph. The thing is so light it spun around on me and I ran into my best friends house. I had two beers that night and was not considered leagally drunk. However, I will never forgive myself for what happend that night. One mistake can remove yourself and/or someone else from this world forever. If I can do it in a VW Bug, I'm scared to think what might happen in my L. Luckly(if you can call it that), noone was around and he was on vacation at the time. Only thing hurting was my pride and my heart knowing what could have happened. Do do it! Don't allow it! It only takes one time.
