Project 'Cheapskate' Racing

In an effort to keep my wife happy while still quenching my thirst for going faster, I'm attempting to mod my Lightning as inexpensively as possible. Using eBay and the excellent classified ads on this site, here's where I stand,
  • MT E/T street slicks (26x11.5) with 10 passes on them, on ARE 16" Baja wheels (includes tubes, lugnuts and aluminum polish) $250.00
  • JL Filter Kit, cleaned up nice! $50.00
  • Flexible dryer vent for above (looks like braided line, sort of) $6.00
  • PSP 2lb pulley- bought used, but it was never installed, included tools $75.00
  • Caltrac traction bars- used but only 6 months old. $125.00
  • JL Driveshaft loop- new. $60.00
  • Boost bypass mod- parts from hardware store and was builtfordfast's treat $FREE

The total so far is $566.00. We figure there's almost $1300 worth of parts if bought new. Granted, it's buyer beware when buying anything used, but so far everything has been in top notch shape. The money I saved will be put towards the NEW chip, 6lb pulley and valve body.

I'm kicking myself for not picking up a Silver Bullet exhaust that was in the classifieds. 6 months old $225.00. AT least I know it went to a good home.

Excellent deals Vinnie and FastasL!!

Shop E-bay for deals!

I bought my 2001 Lincoln Navigator Engine from E-bay for $1500.00 then sent it to SHM for all the port work and misc!

The owner also included the wiring harness and computer.

So look in other places besides the lightning sections and you'll find the best bang for your buck!

I've got you all beat....... The government sends me a check every six months, if I refrain from reproducing.

It's really not that hard to do.
