Thumbs up

nice run..

Seems LOTS of people are running into problems with 1/4 tank of gas. At least 4 people at FFW finals had the truck either stutter or stall due to lack of gas... Makes you wonder how lean it is before it stutters..

Your right Doug,

This is what mine looked like right after the lack of gas stutter.
Not as rich as I expected them to look and my tune is EXTREMLY MILD.

The Stutter screwed my 2- run's totally up

I had that gas stutter last year at WFC4, ever since then I don't even try to go below a 1/2 a tank. I think we need to design a tank that puts the pumps in the back and will allow us to us less gas though.

well you can spray a 75 shot with that setup then.

You should run low 12's with all that like me (in 95 degree heat and 100% humidity), probably 11's in this nice weather.

Thanks Everyone,

L Acious, Blown 318, and all other IN Lightnings please try to make Byron on the 6th. We Lightnings get first class treatment from this track and its owner.
Jeff C. from Auburn will try to make it. He is not on the internet but took 2nd at FFW Cordova

Excited, You Too, try to make Byron

Rampage, you are right. 2 weeks ago we had your WX. At FFW density altitude was over 4000 ft. To Brag...I was running .4 faster than a Lightning with a Works Blower. The Owner doesn't post here. Also .4 faster than a Viper last week.

I have mods listed on www.NLOC.net but it is like Blown 318 said.
I am going to increase my boost oover the 4# I have now but I am waiting for another mod to be finished.

On the gas thing....it seems like the more power you make the more gas in the tank required, Even with the front sway bar in my front end really rises.

Jim

I have to give some credit to the Hoosier Radial Slicks...really quite nice on the Highway.

Jim
I don't mean to rain on your parade here but the mods you list on NLOC don't add up to your times. Looks like someone else is trying to hide mods. Why do you guys do that?

easterland,

Jim is a very close personal friend of mine. You are correct with the 'missing mods' on his list, (except 'weight reduction', I'm not sure of the definition). I can ASSURE you, Jim is in NO WAY trying to 'hide mods'. It is an honest mistake, and I'm sure Jim will update his mod listing as soon as he sees his ommitions. I'm also quite sure he will thank you for noticing his mistake. Jim is a 'stand-up' guy!!!

I must say, it was a good 'catch' on your part.

P.S. I almost forgot the topic at hand...GREAT RUN JIM!!!

Jake...

That's cool if he just forgot. It is just that most people IMO would read that mod list with the codes and carefully add the correct info just as they add the info about their time slip.
I look on that list and see some fast guys who either intentionally leave out info or forget and I don't think that is right.

I wasn't present when these guys raced, but I'll post what I'm pretty sure they missed. If I'm wrong let me know!

Lightningtuner I,O,R
JohnnyLightning I,T,R
Totaled S,A
Jim@JDM A,E,O
and so on...

I thought that when the list came out the standard for weight reduction was any factory item which was removed such as a spare tire or hitch. I know it doesn't make sense that one truck could be driven by a 100 lb person while another was driven by a 300lb person...But as I recall that was the standard.

Well, I left out the O for race fuel for sure, my mistake. However I don't consider my truck to qualify for "weight reduction". My race weight is and always has been +/- 50lbs or so of 4850. I do have items "removed" from the truck such as hitch and spare, but I also have lots of stuff ADDED to the truck that adds weight. I know two trucks in that list that weigh at least 400-500 lb less than me, THATs what I call weight reduction . And I don't have "upper intake work". I either run the stock blower/stock intake, or I run the aftermarket blower, which has it's own intake and is represented by the Z.

There's a lot of people out there who have fast trucks and don't tell the whole story, but you can bet I'll never pull that crap. I have nothing to hide.

BTW, congrats on the 11s Jim!

I thought an I was appropriate for your setup Sal because you do have some work done to the upper intake. I would consider your nitrous being plumbed into the intake as a modification.

I could be wrong on the weight thing, but as I remember any significant item such as hitch or spare tire which was removed counts as weight reduction. Without me my truck weighed 5200 lbs at FFW Bristol this year. I would have put an R because I didn't have the spare tire.

Congrats on the run Reality1. I really didn't mean to hijack this thread.

I'm sure Jim would not take it as such. No harm, no foul!

P.S. Is having Baby Jake drive your L considered 'weight reduction'? (Big D, are you listening?)

Jake...
