QUICK HELP!!! How many quarts for transmission?
Buy 7 quarts. Start by using only 5 then work the gears up and down a few times, check fluid level. Drive it gently for a few minutes, check fluid level. Add as necessary.
Weedo, mine took a total of eight. I started with 6 1/2 and had to finally work to eight. Remeber that when the engine is cold you will get a much lower reading than when hot. Drive it for about 20 - 30 miles, that is when the tranny has reached the optimum temperature, and you will get a more accurate reading.
Second the 8 thing, just did the FT valve body and the 4x4 pan. 8 put it dead nuts in the Hot range of the dipstick.
Keep in mind that you aren't draining the convertor, so you aren't replacing all of the tranny fluid, only the most of it which happens to be in the pan.
