i need slicks... help.
i need slicks... help.
i've got a race to go to this friday in shreveport, and i need another set of sticky tires..
i was running the 26" tall MT ET streets, but i ran over a sharp rock at the local track & punctured one of them..
i had it patched then did a burnout on them to see if it would hold air.. it didn't.
video of the burnout if anyone wants to download it:

(right click on the link & "save as" to your computer.)
anyway... i have a set of 16x10 rims to use with the slicks, so i need something that will go on them.
the ET streets only got me a 1.88 60' with my rancho traction bars.
i'd spin coming off the line almost every time..
should i go with a 28" tall tire? should i go ahead & get full slicks? what brands & tire height are you guys using?
MT?
Hoosier?
i'm kinda leaning towards getting some 28" tall full slicks.. most likely the hoosiers.
and the last question, where can i buy the tires at a good price?
thanks in advance guys!!

aren't you supposed to heat them and let them sit to prep them. Hope you can get everything set before the race as far as prepping and air pressure, would suck to get there and run worse 60ft times then you do on your stock tires. Good luck, plenty of people to help you here, unfortunetly I am not one of them.
tallimeca: the guy at hoosier said to do a long burnout the first time i use them to get the outer layer off, then do a normal burnout after that.. he said that there isn't a "break in" time.
doug: thanks man, but aren't you quite a ways from red river raceway? (shreveport)
i have to work that morning, otherwise i'd come by and visit..
don: i bought them from Hoosier Tire Southwest. i couldn't find anyone online that sold them..
