ET Streets vs. Nitto vs. Hoosier

Looking for some input.I have 26x11.5x16 ET Streets and STILL can't hook at our local tracks [s**tty prep!]
I have to "roll" into the throttle from About 1000 rpm's.I get 1.8-1.95 60' times.MPH with the 26" tire has been 105-106's even in our extreme heat.So it makes pretty good power.
I don't really like swapping wheels at the track and leaving my street tires & jack in the pits.
Will the Nitto's hook much [if any] better that the M/T's?
Are the Hoosier quick time pro's drag radials or true slicks?
I've heard they hook very well.
It would be a DREAM to be able to 'Mash" the pedal at lauch!
I've searched and can't find a direct comparison.
Thanks for any info!
-Dave.

Hoosier slicks are the best hooking
then comes the hoosier quick time pro's
then comes the micky thompson's E.T. street
then comes the nitto's, the nitto's are good for street driving to get a little more tracion but they suck compared to a real slick.

You shouldn't have any trouble hooking up with a E.T. street? what pressure do you run them at? How long of a burnout do you do, they are a harder compound so you need to heat them up more.

I have all three. What RTKILLA said is correct in my opinion.

Killa,I usually run them at about 14psi. and smoke 'em for a good 5 count.I'm right at the 400/500 mark so I would attribute the lack of traction to poor track prep more so than "monster" power.I've tried going down as low as 9-10 psi.Didn't really help and things got a little "squirrelly" at the top end.[Bad feeling!]
I have attended large events at the same track and run a couple of 12.9's with my previous "L" on F-1's, with less mods than I have now.
Calightnin,So if i'm getting this correctly:You like the Nitto's for the street and the Hoosiers for the track and Prolly don't ude the ET's anymore??Can you "stand on it" @ launch with the Hoosiers?
What RPM do you leave at?What kind of 60ft's?what mods do you have?I only go to the track 5-6 times a yr.Although maybe i'd go more often if I felt better about my Times.[it is only 2mi from my house]
Sorry for all the Questions but i'd be spending a lot of $$ to replace something I already have. Thanks again!!
P.S. Killa,I have a buddy in S.E. Wisconsin with a Red "L" who'd probably like to talk with you about some "L" related events.

What mods you have, Dave? and what ET are you getting?
I am still trying to get that elusive 12 second run on my '02
and I wonder if we might have the same problem....

I bought the wrong size the 9.5which only gave a 8"patch need the 11.5 which give a 10" I run the 26/9.5/16 hoosiers I got at 18psi any lower and they get alittle squirrlly. even with only 8" patch they hook like a bitch, feels like my *** is dragging from the launch, could just imagine what the 10" patch would give

I ran the ETs and now have the Hoosier 10" slicks. There is no comparison. I was barly launching the ETs at 1000 and sometimes they broke loose. I'm launching the Hoosiers at 1500 and they never break and my track is not known for traction.
noelvm

10" rims, no screws, 15-17 psi. They may spin on the rims for awhile when they are new but they will seat after 5-6 trips to the track. When new try 17-19 psi.

Hoosiers all the way for most traction.....

Here are my experiances with traction....

F1's- Best of a 1.79 average 1.85's
20's (275/45/20) 1.87-89 average
22's (295/30/22) 1.9x average
ET's (26x11.50x16) 1.7x average
Hoosiers (28x10x16) 1.64-1.70 range

All of this is on a 01 L with a stock convertor, basic bolt ons, 6lb lower.....

Hoosier 16"

Do you still have to machine the rotors or is that only with the 15-inch wheels?

Have you tried maybe to VHT the tires alittle before racing?

The nice thing about you running a 26" e.t. street is that its going to give you more of a 4.10 gear feeling with a smaller tire and thats going to give you a good 1 to 2 tenths over the hoosier's. Thats if you get the two of them to hook up the same.

I don't know what to tell expcept to try the VHT and if that don't work for you try the Hoosier's out. I love my hoosiers but now I have to get a 3.73 gear in the back to make up for the taller tire.

Killa,I have an '02,so I have 3.73's already.Fells like I have plenty of gear and HP to get out of the hole.I almost feel like the short 26'' tires are costing me some MPH.

"then comes the hoosier quick time pro's" - I have to disagree with that.

I have a set of Quicktime Pros they are so bad, I haven't used them since July. I can run 12.1 with my stock tires, the best I have run with the Quicktime Pros was a 12.3 most of the runs were in the 12.4 -1.5 range.

I feel Hoosier made a big mistake with the Quicktime Pros, maybee if we could get a 12 inch wheel they would be ok. If I run anything lower than 16 psi in them I was all over the track at the top end. If I run 16-17 psi only about 8 inches of the tire is making contact with the track.

"then comes the micky thompson's E.T. street" - I borrowed a set of ET Streets last year and they hooked great, I think I have a little to much gear for them, but for a 1999-2000 with 255's they should work pritty good especially for people running the 1/8 mile.

I have since gotten a set of the Hoosier Slicks and they are great. They are the best tire available for our truck right now, unless you want to modify the rear brakes to run 15 inch wheels.

I know M/T has a set of 28 inch ET streets ready to be released. I can't wait to see how they will work.
