Question Do these track times sound right??

By brother has an 02 lightning and i took it to the track this past weekend but the times and mph dont' sound right.....1/8 mile was pretty good but i think its dieing in the quater. What do ya'll think?

-temp. was around 79-82 and this was in south Ga.(little humid)
-mods: 6lb pulley, chip for 93 octane,& 12" cone filter
....1/2 tank of gas, no weight removed, and has speakers

60ft 1.9
1/8 mile 8.59@81.?mph
1/4 mile 13.4@99.?mph .....did later ice intake, spun some
though and got 100.? mph

^^this is with no tire spin and on F1's

now from all of the lightnings i have been around and heard about, the 1/8 is pretty good (e/t wise) but in the 1/4 it seems to run out of steam. With only a filter he ran 9.2 in the 1/8. What is everyone elses imput on this? Could it be a bad program with the chip?

Just to be a smarta$$

I think its the speakers!!

Really should be better times than that w/ a 6# pulley. Need new tune and check spark plugs.

I don't remember my time slips perfectly but I know when I run b/t 13.2 and 13.6 I get b/n 104mph to 105mph trap speeds. So his seems low.

Also my 60' times are 2.1x and 2.2x

times

with those mods he should be somewhere around 12.8@108. The heat and humidity will have some effects but the truck does seems slow. How many miles are no it. Maybe the engine needs more break in.

et and mph #'s ???

Just_Right
It could be the chip. Maybe it has a bad code in it or something. If it is running out up top, then exhaust may be on the agenda next. That is a good 1/8 time for the south, and not a bad 60 foot time. I do think the mph should be higher especially with the 6lber on there. Maybe get a reburn and go from there.

I used to run 8.1's in the 1/8th @ 84-85 mph w/ 2# pulley, PSP chip, Box K&N filter, and Electric fan!!!!! I would think that the humidity is part of it and the chip is the rest...What plugs R U runnin?????

the plugs are....

they are Denso IT22s. Forgot to mention he did change them out. And as far as milage goes, he has around 6,000 so it should be in the prime. Hope this helps.

....I've also been reading that it could be a fouled plug or a dirty fuel filter. The truck only has 6,000 miles though so i wouldn't think it was the fuel filter. But what are the chances of it being a fouled plug. Its like around 4,500rpms the truck lays over and doesnt' feel it has the power it should. What do you all think? Chip, spark plug, fuel filter, or something else???

Tallimeca, how many miles does it take for these trucks to be broken in and running full power?

i thought it being that too but i dont think it is. Another friend of mine has had it happen to him on a couple of occasions and he said it would go from feeling like having lots of power to all of a sudden having less power than a N/A motor (regular f150). And even though it does feel lavy on top end, it doesnt feel like it is dumping boost.

I have the same truck, same mod's, same year, same milage, same temp, and the same dissapointing run yesterday, pretty much to the t.

Mine kept dieing out 3/4 of the way down the track, seemed to be not getting enough fuel. I pulled some plugs today and they look fine.

A matter of fact the seem to be burning exactly like my old stock plugs

I know my ET was due to a very safe tune. I rather be safe and tune up, than burn a hole in my piston. I only asked to have the timing kicked up 1 or 2 degree's, and a safe low A/F. I have two new programs coming this week to try, I'm going up on the timing and up on the A/F. But I still don't know what the lack of gas feeling was. It seems others have had a simular problem when running below a 1/4 tank of gas. (I had a little under a 1/4) Either that or maybe the upper pulley was slipping, who knows, but I do know I ordered lowering shackles, traction control springs, and my new chip and race program will be here soon.
I rather have this program for the street (I LOVE IT) and then a much more aggresive program for the track.

I'll be back at the track within the next two weeks and will post my results.
