Superchip Dealer chip vs. Lightning Tuner Chip???

My dad bought a chip from a local Superchips dealer yesterday for his 2000 L. We ran at the track last week, he went 14.2 bone stock. He wanted to go up this week so he went and got a chip and had it put it and wasn't gonna tell me. He doesn't know much about our tuners and such, so he didn't know the chips could be custom programed, just thought they were all the same, but anyhow.

He has a single program Superchip. The only label on the chip is the same as the computer code, cux1. There is a sticker on the box, zz-sc-1100. Anyone know what this is. What is the difference between this chip and say like the one I have from JDM?

Wink

Your Chip from JDM or any other Tuner isnt just a Generic program like from a Chip dealer. They are custom programs that the tuner has spent the money and time on doing the R and D and perfecting them .

If the local superchips dealer knows what mods your dad has on his truck, then it's a custom program. If not I think you are playing with fire.....

When I had my truck, I went with the superchips from Mike. I ran consistant 13.4 with it. I had Johnny Lightning reburn the chip and dropped down to 13.2 consistantly with a best of 13.11 on a 2000 Lightning.

Hope that helps some

I believe the truck is bone stock...it's just a standard "stock" chip most likely

Am I missing something here... JL is diablo ... I didn't think JL and superchips were compatable?

tallimeca - either contact Mike Troyer about it, or convince your dad to send it to Jim for a reburn

JL used to do superchips back in the day.

My good friend is a superchip dealer, and last year we put a superchip program on a chip i had laying around and put it in my 01 lightning. The truck was stock otherwise, so the chip was meant for it. However, i went to VA and met up with Jim, and he put a JDM program on it and it picked up .2 in the quarter, still being a stock truck other than the chip.

So what im saying is that you are fine with the superchip program, since you said his truck was stock last week, but you would do a little better with a "better" program on it.
