That I knew, but let me rephrase my question better:

I was under the impression that Diablo chips used different tuning/programming software then superchips does.

ie - if you plug an autologic chip into a superchip reader and try to tune it with superchip software it won't work and vice-versa.

Does the same hold true b/n superchips and diablo chips?

Captainn.

I had JL burn the chip before he switched over to diablo. He reburned it for me about 2 months before switching.

Ah okay.

I was gonna say, if I can get a superchip program on a diablo chip that would be cool, b/c I like the look and size and way the diablo chip is completely inside the pc box so much more then the big blue superchip.

Ummm ... the binary data on ALL the chips has to be in the same
locations, so just about anyone can read the chips, right?

if i am not mistaken, all superchips gives all of their programs to the tuners, i do not believe they have the capability to physically change things themselves, other than loading a different program,

i believe diablosport is the same

i could be mistaken

i like the autologic software, as mike wesley who makes the autologic was the man who used to design the programs for ford, he knows them inside and out,

when ford had the fiasco with the 99 cobras, they called him to do the "computer flash" program to bring up the hp

in general though, saying this chip is better for e.t. than this chip without first asking questions about, a/f, timing, ect.. is useless

it still amazes me how many of everyone out here blindly goes into putting a chip, talking about how much better it is, and knows nothing about the programming in it

i hear ya beef

but my father is almost 50 and is from the old school when it comes to computers and cars. He hears me talking about chips and such, and hears someone down the road sells chips, he figures it's all the same. He had no idea that we tune these trucks with keystrokes on a computer which is burned into a chip, rather than a little screw driver on the carb if you're getting my drift. I'm gonna send my chip out next week for a reburn for my pulley, i'll send his down too.

Nothing against the old guys at all!!!

My mother though my father was crazy when he bought the truck, and now it's worse cause he's into the track now. I told her that more than half the guys up there are his age.....or close.....Don's Bolt, BostonL, Fomocofan.

He's just amazed about how these things are tuned and controled. he wanted to pull the intake off the throttle body and run it, so i had to explain the MAF system and computer relations to him. I showed him how the thing won't even run without it.

So anyhow, here's what i run into. I took a peek to see how they did the install.......what a mess!!! First i found the computer just hanging up there, not secured at all. I undid the battery and removed the harness and took the computer out. Here's what I found.

1)a five inch piece of electrical tape hold, or trying to , the chip to the computer, needless to say we know what happens with electrical tape....the chip was half way out

2)1 of the computer case screws was just sitting in the hole, never tightened

3)terminals were never scraped and cleaned, my father was amazed at the **** i scraped off it

4)never removed the bracket to bend the tabs

5)grommet where wiring for the door comes through was popped out and sitting behind the rocker pannel, which wasn't fastened all the way

6) the plastic moulding that runs along the door jam has light colored markes where the plastic started to bend when the tryed to undo the kick pannel.

My father couldn't believe what a mess it was, and If i didn't tell him, he would have never known the difference. He's going down there to let them know what we found.

I'm afraid for anyone dealing with these folks he got the chip from. They are pretty well know for their accessories, been around a long time, but i don't know about this chip thing.

I don't know if i should go down there and show them how they should be installed, or call superchips and let them know they are gonna be getting a bad name (as if they might even care or not....who knows). Anyhow, i don't like not knowing what's on this chip. I test drove it after i reinstalled it and it feels pretty good actually, but i talked him into getting a reburn for safe measure.
