Unplugged dump solenoid and....

I unplugged my boost solenoid instead of spending the $ on the bypass kit...now i know this has been covered about a zillion times--but checking the archives, i still cant find an answer so here goes....

DOES UNPLUGGING THE SOLENOID WORK THE SAME AS THE AFTERMARKET KITS????

AND..

Ive noticed my boost doesnt drop anymore....is this going to beat the motor/trans too much?...Its an everyday driver so im thinking of just unplugging it during times of "fun".

Im not worried about the soft code, but i am worried about the neg. aftereffects. I know Im beating a dead ******, but just a few $.02 from you guys would greatly be appreciated!!

Keep the forum strong!

No, your not beating a dead ***** on this one.

Unhooking the solonoid does the same thing as installing a 25$ boost bypass kit, but like you said it saves a soft code.
I've left mine unhooked for about 9 months with no probs, i need to do make myself a do-it-yourself boost bypass so i dont get that soft code anymore. I cant justify spending 25$ on a tee. You should be able to find it with a search.

Aren't soft codes erased when you unplug the battery? If so, who cares about a soft code?

btw : $25 for a rubber tee : :o

Unplugged mine 26,000+ miles, multiple dyno and track runs... NO PROBLEMS. Why would any one want to spend even $2?

SO has anyone tried this on and then off at the track? I would like to see if it really helps, or if it just keeps from dumping boost.

Did you feel your truck just lose power after the 2nd shift, or all together? When you lose boost, you're truck will fall flat on its face. I unplugged it that day and ran 13.1

Depending on mods/altitude/traction etc etc that may have been your ET without losing boost......but its just always a good idea to unplug it when youre at the track, because you may hit the rev limiter coming out of the burnout or even on the 1-2 shift, and thats when the ecu says 'byebye boost'

Like JBLsilver01 mentioned, it will only help if your ECM is signaling for the boost to be dumped, which will not happen unless 1) you hit your rev limit, 2) WOT with brakes.

So basically unless you plan on doing burnouts, this mod will do nothing to help you on the street, unless of course you have a chip that allows the RPMs to exceed the limit and you do so on a regular basis.

Since I do not do burnouts and do not YET have a chip, mine stays plugged in...
