Eaton Blower install on the Gator 32 valver

Honest Injun, I tried all sorts of search parameters and could not come up with any info.

A while back someone was trying to adapt the Lightning supercharger to the Gator motor. This is one possible alternative I am looking at if one of my investments comes through (there are still a few out there . I am also looking at the Paxton/Novi that has already been done for the Wood.

Anyone having any infor, please let me know.
Thanks
Bill

The new 03 cobra setup should work out for you. I know the heads are the same bolt pattern as whats in your truck. Should bolt right up

Stan, if you photoshopped that I'll kill you, this is no laughing matter
If it is for real, when that investment pays off, I am plugging Rogers AR into my GPS thingie and heading for Slick Willie land.

Really only two questions: How much and how difficult?

The cobra intake won't work since the cobra is a 4.6 and the gator is a 5.4!

Sean Hyland was showing a lightning blower/gator setup on their webpage a while ago (expect big $). As an alternate try Kenne Bell (just don't expect an intercooler or customer service).

Now that I have done the blower.[which I do alot of][first one for the blackwood]not to bad,I remove the oil pan and weld a fitting into it instead of tapping with the pan on,I can't see how you can possible keep ALL the shaving out.
Now the lowering is a bit*ch!! I had c notches made up that reinforced the frame and measured the flex afterwards[less than1/16 with weight of the truck on the hitch.Measured before the c-notch and at the END of the frame.Have to cut off the bed mounting bracket the air bag brackets.Lets just say will over 20 hrs in doing the rear alone. And NO it is not photoshopped.Don't know how to do that.Still can go down 2 more inches in the rear and still have the air suspension functioning.
Can do it but it won't be Cheap.Charged the owner to install the dropft and rear 1600.00 plus.Have not figured it all up yet I mean I JUST finished it when I took the pics.Stan

Why not, the heads are the same?

The heads on the 4.6 gt are the exact same as the L heads.

The only difference between a 4.6 and 5.4 is basically the length the rods. the 5.4 is a stoked out 4.6 motor. I don't see how it wouldn't work for him.

As far as SHM goes, I don't beleive anything they say cause there the biggest rip off artist in the industry. You paying 50% more for his name and he doens't even do anything that great. the one lap of america truck had his 4 valve motor and is was JUNK!!! JDM had to rebuild the entire thing.

Yeah, Kenne Bell has a Twin-Screw S/C for that motor.

Thanks, Stan:

Actually, I was more interested in how much for the blower and how much trouble, tuning (pcm problems etc.) than I was the lowering. I have already had someone look at the lowering possibilities and the unique suspension on the Wood just seems like a world of difficulties to get it right over the long term. Even if you gave your customer a break, ~$2K just for lowering is a bit strong and I am sure you did it correctly.

RtKilla & Ian:

I too had thought that the 4.6 was not compatible with parts for the 5.4 but I think RT is correct based on a little more research.

Like with many such dream projects, I may chicken out in the end as I have not even gotten to the lack of Lightning quality rods, lower cr pistons, stronger trannie etc. that would probably be necessary to really do it right. I am still waiting to hear back from the Paxton/Novi folk and will nudge them if I don't hear soon. Their press release did not indicate any engine teardown/rebuild so I assume they just figured out how to install it and did it on the stock block. I would imagine they have the resources to dyno tune the pcm or chip it or whatever to make the the thing run in a streetable manner.

In the end, I may just go chip'nfilter and exhaust and live with what that gets me but I will rely on you my friends to keep up my enthusiasm to have a blown Wood. Not a Lightning wanna be, just a blown wood. (God that sounds bad doesn't it?) .

Hope to hear from you Stan.

Joe, the 5.4 has a taller deck height, and a taller deck spreads the heads out farther. So the ports are farther apart than on the 4.6 Cobra.

You send them the computer and they burn a nes chip for it.In my case I sent them the helix program off of the NGS tool. You get a bigger mass air and add fuel pump.don't know how well it runs But I am sure he will tell me.The blackwood has the 4r1oo trans in it don't know the gearing but will look tomorrow.StanAs for the cost of the charger figure on close to 6 grand to do the install rite.about 400 to 500 less if you don't want a polished charger.Let me know I am a paxton dealer. As well as a few other chargers.Stan

Bill if you want I can bring Moby down to your store once a month and you can take it out for a blast. That will either give you your Horsepower fix or make you want more power in the Gator even more.

Killa: To expand on what Sal said... It's just like with the 302 and 351W. The heads are interchangable but because of the taller deck height on the 351W the intakes are not interchangable there either.
