Our new Boss 5.4
Welcome to the board. You'll probably not get an over enthusiastic reaction to your truck from the Lightning owners because the Boss has been discussed here many times, and is not highly though of. But congrats anyway, it's a pretty truck, I've seen them in person, and for the most part, I like them.
"I wanted a lighting, but decided on probaby the only Boss 5.4 in Colorado."
There are already two of those things driving around in the small town where I work. I'll bet if you invested the money you would make more in the long run, and you wouldn't have to worry about storage and insurance among other things.

From what I have heard all my uncles and dad say about the cars they had in HS and if only they would have kept them, muchas $$$$$$'s. I'm 19 now, and I kinda look foward to seeing what all the vehicles are worth from whem I grew up. Take the L, I wonder if the resale will go up much in like 40 years? The BOSS could have this same effect, but go higher, not shure, I guess thats why it will be neat to see.
If its what you like, thats all that counts. Its ok....
BTW, Welcome to the boards....
Maybe they can make a BOSS F150 Section for all your BOSS owners...

I hope most of them are in the mountains, hiding in a garage, cave or hole.
I saw one, and laughed when I saw the price. The only way it will go up in value is if you keep in in your family for five generations-- then you might break out even.
Your choice/cash though... welcome to the boards.

The Boss 5.4 will never gain any value, I can gaurantee that. It's not a Ford build vehicle, and aside from cosmetics, there is nothing special about. This was already attempted in the mid 90s, with the Centurion Mark III and IV F-150, that was basically the same thing as the Boss 5.4. It was color keyed like a Lightning, and had ground effect type running boards, custom rims, and a bunch of other cosmetic stuff, just like the Boss 5.4. Almost 10 years later, and the trucks are worth no more than a regular F-150, and nobody really cares about them.
The Boss 5.4 is a cool truck, but my advice is to just have fun and drive it, because letting it sit in a garage and never even see 100 miles, is just going to mean you wasted a lot of money for something you never used 20 years from now.

That guy (badwabbit) is the most realitic non-lightning poster I have EVER seen on this board! Laid it down like it is, no muff, no fluff. My man, you are welcome to post here anytime! You can help us set the import owners straight when one gets on here and claims his 450hp civic will tear our trucks a new one.
While I canoot say for 100% certain that the Boss will make/lose money over time, I CAN say that Sal and others here are right on. I once talked to an original owner of a 57 or 58 Tbird. They waxed on about what it's worth, etc. - and later that night I added up all the insurance costs, maintaining it, garage space lost, and vehicle cost... if they took that dough back then and put it all in ITT, MMM or some other blue chip, they'd have more $$$ now. period.
That truck is not a Shelby AC Cobra, or Gullwing Mercedes.
BUT, enjoy it, love it and drive it, OK?

Well, I'm glad that guy isn't investing MY money
If the Boss 5.4 goes up in value. . . then a lot of ricer cars with big wings, sill extensions, and deep front bumpers will be worth a lot too.
Welcome to the board anyway, though.

I had a friend in college who wanted to buy two 1975 Ford Granadas. One to drive and one to keep as an investment!?!?!?
I have my 1964 Galaxie 500 convertible for fun and my 1998 Expedition for everything else.
