(No) Oil in Intake Boot

Just wanted to let you guys know that when I did my last oil change about 3000 miles ago, I cleaned the oil from the intake boot and filled the crankcase with 5.5 qts. of oil instead of 6 qts. Well, I checked it last night and was pleasantly surprised to see that there was NO OIL in the boot! There was a very little bit in the TB just downstream of the butterflies so I wiped it out with a paper towel, but the intake boot was DRY!

Looks like I will not be adding the crankcase breathers after all.

I installed an oil beather cap on the passenger side crankcase and have oil all over the intercooler and intake...Maybe it was the new engine maybe something else. I don't know.

38,000 miles and I have never gotten much oil in my intake.

I checked it the other day and it is oil free, and thats with 6 quarts of oil.

I guess it's kinda like the "marbles in the can" noise, some have it, some don't!

lightning856: did you put the air/oil seperator on the line connected to the intake boot or the line after the throttle body? The oil I am talking about was coming from the line that connects to the boot. I may be getting oil through the other line, but I have never checked that one...

I've got 40,000 on my 99L, and I have found oil in the boot every time I have checked.

The oil that gets into the boot comes from the passanger side PCV valve. That line hooks up to a port just behind the the IAC. It runs down the intake tube that goes from the top of the blower to the throttle body. It is actually coming out of the throttle body, and down into the boot. You will get virtually no oil from the drivers side PCV, because it his not under high vacuum.

I never had an oil problem with my truck, until it hit about 40k miles. Now that I have installed a filter, I don't even get any vapor. The 5.5 quart trick didn't do anything for me, once it started coming out.

I wish I took before and after pictures, but when my truck was 2 weeks old I put a chip and filter on it and was extremly dissapointed in the amount of oil in the throttle Body. Put a Crankcase Breather on it and checked it just the other day, well over 5,000 miles later. Check it out yourself ---> Spotless...
It worked for me and the Breather still looks as clean as the day I put it in.

Unless you actually look at your ic,rotars and main intake,do not assume you have no oil in there.
My boot never had any oil in it after 29k but when i removed the motor for building all the above were full of oil and the only sign was very little oil behind the t/b blade at about 15k.
My main intake had a puddle of oil in it
