Question 01, do they always have new style wheels?

Looking at some 2001's for sale. I'm seeing some pics that show some of them with the older lightning style wheels. Other pics of 01's that I see have the new style wheels. What gives? Did Ford start putting the new wheels on mid-year or something?

Thanks,

When the current style wheel was first introduced...many people preferred the style from the two years prior....Ive talked to a few people who traded 01 wheels to people with 00 L's....but i like mine so thats all that matters!.....So to answer your question--I really dont think Ford would change wheels in the middle of the model year!

But on the flip side--they have been known to do some weird stuff--like the new "thunderbolt", for example

I think you mean when people steal the better looking 01-02 wheels they put the 99-00 wheels on because no one would ever steal those ugly things.

or they just put 01/02 style headlights and taillights on their 99/00 L and you thought it was a 01/02L. just another possibility.

the dealer says it's an 01, but it does have the older wheels on it. Headlights and tail lights are the new style though. I suppose it's easy enough to look up the vin# just to make sure.

Thanks all.
