Help!!! Clunk in front end, will it hurt!
I have the clunk in my front left side on turns. I am taking it to the dealer to have it fixed and i was wondering what to tell them was wrong with it. Also for u jersey guys, how is fullerton ford on service. I need this fixed, wondering what is wrong, and will it hurt my baby if i dont get it repaired? I would also like to know what to tell the service guy is wrong without just saying it clunks. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Silver Bolt, DO WHAT???
the tsb (applies only to 99-00 trucks by the way) replaces the control arm washers with the toothed ones that come stock on the newer trucks. It doesn't "take the truck out of alignment" any more than it might have been with the bolt sliding around clunking in the first place. and it doesn't cause premature tire wear. there are plenty of clunkers running around with premature tire wear.
the clunk may just be steering stops, put some grease on them and see if the noise goes away. you may not need a trip to the dealer. there are TWO clunk noises and you cannot tell the difference between them, they sound almost identical, on is control arm bolt movement, one is steering stop contact (normal)
also, the TSB may not fix your truck at all, as I said it is just the washer kit that comes stock on the '01 and newer trucks, and my '01 rolled of the 18wheeler clunking with only 7 miles. I repreformed the TSB anyway to the letter and even washed off the frame wax first and it still clunked.
buy some herbs washers and get an aligment (wither camber plates if needed). and be done with it.

chris
